I understand that - but unless we're willing to provide proof of vaccination, we can't just say "oh, you're vaccinated, okay, no more masks" because there are a significant number of people who will lie just to avoid wearing a mask. (Like those who pull it down when they think no one's looking or who pretend to not understand the proper way to wear a mask, etc.)

We can't have it both ways. It's either masks until enough people are vaccinated, or vaccine passports.

This is yet another instance in which the bad apples are making life difficult for everyone else.
I think the real answer here is that if you're vaccinated, you should just stop worrying about everyone else and let them make their own decisions. People are entitled to make their own health decisions, and I see no reason why you or anyone else have any argument to force masks or vaccine passports if you're protected yourself. It's time for people to stop trying to control everyone else's bodies.

Assuming, "others" aren't vaccinated, and more importantly, you have the Rona, and even more importantly, are contagious.

edit to add....

Assuming the fact that you being mask-less makes a significant difference to whether or not you spread aerosol viral particles

But when entering he park you don't know any of those points, so you could still be a risk to unvaccinated people in the park.

There's 2 problems with this.

1) people who can't be vaccinated due to medical reasons and those in the age groups for which vaccines haven't been approved yet, and

2) the people refusing to vaccinate and wanting masks to be no longer necessary are increasing the likelihood that the virus will mutate and that the vaccines will need to be modified...which would put us back at square 1.

Or to people who can't be vaccinated due to medical reasons or because they're in one of the age groups for which the vaccines haven't been approved yet.
That's been true for every single disease that is already out there. What do they do during flu season or when there is a measles outbreak? The same thing they should be doing with COVID. They have to be careful for the rest of their lives no matter what happens with COVID.

Sorry, but we just can't be scared for the rest of our lives that there may be some sort of mutation that will cause the vaccines to be modified. You could say the exact same thing about every virus already present. What happens when a typical flu virus mutates to become more deadly or contagious??? Yes, that can absolutely happen at any time, and we simply cannot live our lives afraid of that happening.

I didn't say they shouldn't be careful.

However - the person with medical issues still needs to earn a living. And has more of a right to do so without worrying about being put at further risk by someone who refuses to vaccinate and doesn't feel like wearing a mask.

Because this is a health decision that directly impacts other people's health. If you choose to overeat, someone standing next to you won't suddenly become obese, but if you get infected with the virus you could pass it to someone who is unable to get the vaccine, or has lost immunity to it.

Nobody is saying we should be "scare for the rest of out lives", but like it or not we are still in the middle of a global pandemic. We have a very powerful tool in the vaccines to get it under control, so let's be cautious for a little longer and give the vaccine a chance to do it's job, at least in the US.

Look, both my wife and I are vaccinated, and will continue to wear masks as required, and I think everyone should get vaccinated. I'm even an advocate for vaccine passports to allow us to do things that people refusing the vaccine won't get to do - like theaters, plays, cruises. etc. The big problem is that the states that have removed all restrictions are still seeing a reduction in cases as well as those with severe lock-downs. So lots of people are seeing that and thinking why should I bother wearing a mask outdoors?

I do agree that it would be nice if people waited just a few more months, but in reality, I just don't see that happening. Sorry.

So you don't think a lot of people with medical issues don't have serious problems with the normal flu virus? So yes, to them, it is just like every other virus that they have to contend with.
My best friend can't be vaccinated. And no, COVID is NOT like every other virus they have to contend with.
