I want to flip the switch a little bit. With the news that restrictions are relaxing, my first thought went to what would be returning. So I pose this question. What does everyone think will return first? Meet and Greets, Parades, Stage Shows, or Fireworks? Yes, I know Festival of the Lion King is returning, but what about all the others?
Got to be fireworks. I think that is a big optics deal for them and something to "celebrate".

Disney also has to comply with local government regulation (see my post above) which does not currently allow them to remove the mask mandate.
FL Governor is poised to strike down all local restrictions soon.

WDW can still require COVID protocols they deem fit, but will soon not have any governmental agency mandating what they should be... except not to have a vaccine passport because we don't want any rules at all except for the rules we want to have.

The state does not, nor has it ever had a mask mandate, those have always been done by local government since the start of all this. Since WDW is private property, they can keep the mask mandate in place longer if they choose to, just like virtually all large business in the state have them in place regardless of local govt guidelines (or lack thereof).

As for the vaccine passport thing- if that goes into effect it will shut down the re-opening of the cruise industry this summer so that political stunt will have to go back to the drawing board.

Right. I never said the state did.

But Orange County has restrictions.

And the governor is poised to prevent Orange County or any other local government from creating any mandates.

Wonder what this will create. Guests will become even more of a pain when there are no mandates and TDO still has mask mandates. Although I am not sure if masks were under this order.

This is going to be interesting...And also makes it harder for CMs.
Disney is going to have to make some tough decisions.
I feel like some form of masks optional being the outcome

I keep hearing about this, but wondering where this comes from, cruising is international travel similar to airlines, they will do whatever the cruise stop destinations allow, and has nothing to do with this order.

They are looking at the data at various places (like Israel) and being aggressive at it (much too aggressive for some, not enough for others). I have a feeling Florida is overall going to do better than most places in the long run. If the supply line shortages don't impact too much, that is.

You obviously don't understand the definition of "essential".
Well considering what was deemed essential and what wasn't during covid I am not sure anyone does to include all of our fearless leaders both local, state and federal.

It’s driven by the requirement from last week that requires confirmation of vaccination status of both crew and passengers for cruise ships to arrive and depart from US ports. If Florida bans then from doing this, they cannot comply with the CDC order and therefore cannot cruise from US ports.

I think fireworks will be one of the last things to come back, due to crowding in MK. The 'fireworks' (ie, mainly projections) are focused on the castle and if you aren't standing in front of the castle, you're missing a majority of the show.

There are multiple lines that have already stated a vaccine is mandatory for their ships once cruising resumes. Expect all of them to follow, eventually (as they should).

I forgot about crowding. If Disney moves to 3 feet social distancing maybe they would try?

This guy has appealed to the lowest common denominator from day 1.

I don’t disagree that they are and they should. However, the governor has banned them from requiring it so we have a potentially significant barrier to cruises restarting in FL right now.

He doesn't have a leg to stand on when they take it to court. He'll change his tune as soon as they threaten to leave FL and the thousands and thousands of jobs go bye bye.

I don’t disagree that it will die in the courts, but until that happens cruising cannot restart in FL, and the state legislature has passed a law that puts that EO into law effective 7/1/21 that he signed, which will take even longer to remove. That’s why I said above that it’s a political stunt that will have expensive implications for the cruise industry and all the jobs that surround that industry. All of which are desperate to be able to restart operations but under current Florida law, they cannot restart operations and comply with the vaccination validation requirements in Florida

Fireworks are a moneymaker for Disney in lots of forms from the highend restaurant views, theme park views at their hotels, people staying in their parks longer etc. I suspect once the 3ft distancing is adopted, Disney will look to their return sooner then later.
