I've seen some not so kind guests. I did see a not nice CM on the bus in November. Did yell at a guest to put their mask up - and it already was up. I chalked it up to a bad day and a poor angle from the mirror that made her think otherwise. First time in a long time I saw a grumpy CM for no good reason. Personally I can count on one hand the bad experiences with a CM myself and I've been going 40 years.

I got random compliments from the CMs on my dresses I wore this past October, so obviously they're great. :D

Also we had the greatest CM at Gran Destino during check-in. We didn't have a room by the time we arrived, so we went to desk, chatted with her, talked about it being our anniversary, where we are from, etc,. She goes to the back and we hear her saying "such a nice couple...anniversary..." she came back and we ended up with a Tower deluxe suite for all 9 nights!
She was the best.

When I see parents get physical with their kids in a theme park, I think, “we are in public. How is this child treated at home?” Scary thought.
I witnessed a very traumatizing scene a couple days this past Christmas.

A little kid ran off from her family inside in the Disney Springs Lime garage. The father was not very happy, he chased her down and dragged her back to their car. I didn't think much of it when I walked by. But as my family and I were getting inside the car....I heard a cracking sound against the concrete pavement in the distance. I also didn't think much of it....then it rang again, and again, and again....along with the sheer cry of a little girl. It finally clicked in my head without even looking..

My dad and I immediately got out of the car and saw it in plain view. The little girl was lying on the ground out in the open parking lane and her father had his belt out...whipping her!! I was very much in disbelief and soon some other adults gathered around. One (brave) dude approached the father and they started shouting at each other. We and other people called for security, but my dad wanted to get out of there just in case it turns for the worst. The dad and the other guy kept shouting each other, face to face, when we drove away. We also passed security in golf carts approaching the scene. All in all there were probably 10 or so on lookers, including us. I thank that dude for intervening. Another family grabbed the girl and carried her away while the girl's family tried to grab her back and argue as well.

That picture remained in my head for the rest of my trip. My younger sister was very affected and cried for hours because of the thought of the little kid. The worst part? The mom, some other family members, and what seemed like an older brother all stood around and did nothing. That right there is telling...I could even recall the mom smirking or something.

Absolutely disgusting. I hope that child got help and taken away from such abusive parent(s). Knowing the garages are full of cameras, especially near the escalators where this took place, I hope all the evidence is there besides witnesses.

I searched the news and Twitter for any reports of this, but none. I wished I took a video or something, but calling for help was probably a better idea. I'm still kinda shaken from it, and this thread made me suddenly remember it since the following days at the parks helped bury that scene in my head..

I understand children can be difficult but you are at Disney World. It’s so easy to find consequences! Maybe Cindy doesn’t get a new toy that day? Hell, I’m not above getting dessert for my wife and I and leaving misbehaving kids without. When they see my ginormous cupcake, the behavior turns around real quick!

I used to use our local amusement park as a reward for my nephew all the time, the opposite was also true though, if he didnt listen or acted up while in the park we left, I carried him out kicking and screaming a few times. Amusement parks are some of the easiest places in the world to “punish“ a kid without actually punishing them.

Having a rule that politely asks the unvaccinated to wear masks without enforcement relies on the concept of "personal responsibility". Not everyone in the world has abandoned this idea yet but it's quite a showing of where we're at when people are questioning such an idea...
We can ask, but it is not reality.

We have rules and laws because personal responsibility doesn't work outside the the good of one's self or family because most times a people will not take responsibility for their actions on their own. A humans first instinct is not to take blame even when the fault is factually theirs. Heck I have don it myself until I thought better of it and finally realize yeah that is my fault. My wife can vouch for that for sure. Most important we need take a look at this specific issue because it is even worse.

For the most part the people being asked to wear masks at this point, the non vaccinated, do not feel any personal responsibility and never will because they do not believe the mask or vaccines even work, hence in their minds they are not not being irresponsible.

There lies the core problem, many people believe this Covid Pandemic is all a farce or at least overblown and feel in their hearts they have nothing to be responsible for. We can not fight that thinking, we can only educate and present facts.
View attachment 621795View attachment 621796As a Florida native who’s visited the parks 1-5 times a month for the past 4-5 years and at least once a year since I was 4, I can tell you, no one is being “dramatic”. I’ve been at the parks Thanksgiving day, New Year’s Day, 4th of July, etc, I’ve seen those crowds, I don’t think anyone is saying it’s that crowded. However, firstly the crowds at this time of year are unusual, but to that point, the crowds are at a higher level this past week than I’ve seen in any trip I’ve taken in the past 6 months. These are just some wait time example, I’m not complaining and I’m just leisurely strolling through the parks getting on what I can, but for guests who come once in a lifetime or even just once every few years and have heard January & February are slower, should not expect that this year. Your post is kind of tone deaf and out of place, even if you’ve been to the parks during this time, either you’re blind or just ignoring the crowds. I was here 2 and a half weeks ago and the crowds were approximately half of what they are the past few days. And Presidents’ Day isn’t till Monday.
I have been to the park near every day the last two weeks and I can say the time estimates posted and in the app are for the most part off and state a longer time than actual.

We read 90 minutes one night last week at FOP. I told my wife lets get in line, she says that is way too long, my response 90 minutes is bull crap you can see that from the line. So we timed it and went on FOP 3 times in that about 100 minutes. Since the contamination pre shows were running and both chambers running(they were not on one trip during covid) then including the 4 minute plus per rides adn small walk out back to the line that means we waited about 25 minutes before hitting each first chamber.

That may be a one night issue, maybe, but why the times seem overblown almost every ride we go on is up for you guys to decide. All I can say is the last two weeks we have seen line times just as shown in the previous post, yet we never waited that long for any of those rides. If course I see a long line adn corresponding 110 minute wait I don't get in the line. If I see the actual line is not long I go with my gut and don't believe what the app or sign says and so far that has worked for us. That Smuggler Run night when we had a 5 minute standby on the sign and ROTR had a 20 minutes standby, the actual app read 90 minutes and110 minutes in the app(compared to the signs) and took a good 15 minute to update. Again, maybe that one night was funky, I don't know. The ROTR sign when we were there many times showed weird figures and not real numbers so not sure what that was about either. Broken or hiding the true wait who knows.

A few weeks ago I entered the line for Soarin and the posted wait was 45 minutes. I was past the merge area and in line for a concourse in about 15 minutes.

Were there any cars around when the daughter ran off? I know I wasn't there, so I have to rely on you, and by your words a little girl ran off from her family in a car garage(where she could easily be struck by an automobile), her father disciplined her for something that could have gotten her killed, and people intervened to tell the father off?

I'm not a fan of corporal punishment, but the one and only time it is warranted, is when a child does something that could seriously harm them. I can't speak for that man, but I've ran over these scenarios in my head so many times, and I would hate to have to hit my own children, but if it meant them learning a lesson that would save their life, I begrudgingly would, although, personally, I would never use anything other than my hand.

If they are expecting the Disney transportation to be anywhere near the level of the NYC subway that I had to take today during rush hour, maybe that explains why masks are still required on transport at WDW.

My father use to whip me with a belt when I got out of line. I assure you that I did everything I could to stay on his good side. I know many people would say what he did was horrible but I appreciate that he set standards and held me to them.

That being said my daughter is turning 16 and I have been able to raise her without even raising my voice accept once.

I know I’m going to take flak for saying this but if it was his son I would have looked the other way.
Since it was his daughter I would have stopped him immediately with physical force if necessary.

I know everything I said is probably wrong but I don’t have a lot of training in how to handle a situation like that.

Umm that’s what it’s like inside the stores and rides. You have your shots you will be ok!

Plus you can still mask if you choose.

You are not wrong to want to wear the mask, wear it with pride! I choose not to wear mine with the same pride, even though my brain knows you are more right than me.
Are you wearing a k95 mask? CDC has confirmed that they are the only masks that effectively reduce the spread of viruses. The rest are basically for show.

I’m watching a live stream. Not a whole lot of masks indoors. It’s glorious. I just booked a quick weekend getaway next month with the family. Can’t wait to see my kids smile on rides.

There was like one car going around iirc. It's okay to discipline, but at the point of doing it in public in front of other families and children (at Disney), with a belt, about 10 times within a short span....I think that's just too much. Especially when the mom nor whoever in their party didn't even try to intervene to say that's enough.

I was disciplined with a hand plenty of times as a child, but I got the memo eventually. But my parents never dared to do it in public. We would just leave the beach, park, etc. if I acted up and they had enough. Saved the shouting for the car ride home lol

I guess it's also due to the fact that we're at Disney and the bubble. Never would I imagine I witnessed that.

Just a passing thought based on how many people are commenting on the unvaccinated not following the rules...

Look at the wording of the Disneyland policy. Now look at the wording of the Walt Disney World policy. Compare and contrast. And remember, these were carefully drawn up by lawyers. Nothing in them is by accident.

Technically, the unvaccinated are only required to mask up at Disneyland. Disney has an expectation, but not a requirement, that unvaccinated guests wear masks at WDW.

Like I say, they didn't word it that way by accident.

Good eye. Yes, that phrasing is definitely purposeful. Disney World does not "require" that the unvaxxed mask (except for transportation, along with everyone else); they merely "expect" it.

I could not imagine what it would be like on CM's to enforce mask on the unvaccinated. What is it, kids five to two need to mask under this policy as they cannot get vax'd so they must be unvaxxed -- so the CM's would have a miserable job if they needed to keep reminding parents that their kids need mask.

Not sure how you think I just proved your point unless you didn’t bother reading the article or didn’t understand the content of it, but you’re welcome.
Read it. They provide relatively no protection compared to N95 masks. And that is if worn properly which a majority don't.
