But there were no vaccines and that was dumb knowing what we know now…to be clear, Tucker

and I’m not saying you’re alone…we have the benefit of hindsight now
I knew then that based on my age and health I was at very low risk of any serious outcome if I got COVID so I decided to live my life as normally as I was allowed to.

It's called personal risk analysis. There is a high risk of long term consequences to be a boxer yet many people determine that the risk is acceptable and go into professional boxing.

The Orange County Mayor said yesterday that based on current rate of vaccination he thinks he may be able to drop the countywide mask mandate some time in June. That will trigger some interesting challenges for Disney who will likely want to stay a little stricter but if the county removes the mandate enforcement is likely to get a lot more contentious.
As a private company can't they decide what the rules are that pertain to entrance to their business?

Jungle Jim’s first. Then on to Rosie Ogradys Good Time Emporium. There was some “magic” there.

Phineas Phoggs wasn’t bad either.

I think that was kitty osheas? Amongst others…

that was also where the “remote” sorority meetings were held. Good thing there was no zoom then 😎
You guys forgot about Lucy BLuz in Kissimmee. I believe Monday nights were where you could fill up whatever cup for a .25. Also let's not forget $1 drinks on Wednesday nights at Chillers. I could have built a castle with all my plastic cups from there.

Like you I only wore mask where I was asked to and happily did so because you know rules and stuff. I actually didn't get my first case of covid until after my second shot and then again after the booster which is why for now I won't be getting anymore.

A forum member posted - got their shots and booster, continued to wear their masks and advised did not contact covid symptoms. I am looking forward to getting the 4th approved booster and I continue to wear my mask when I'm around others. I'm part of team Moderna.

Yes you are right everyone is different that is why I completely oppose vaccine mandates.

I've had three Moderna shots, and only wear a mask where required which is virtually no where here in NJ.
I tested positive on Thursday, walked 5 miles around the Mansasquan Reservoir on Friday, and went for an 11 mile bike ride on the Henry Hudson Trail on Saturday.
I like knowing I'm positive, and feel nothing.
It beats living in fear, of what catching omicron might feel like.
Now... I very likely might get a fourth shot, if the evidence supports that I should at the time.
But, 'till then I'm going to hope things don't take a turn for the worse - and enjoy life as it is now.

There is no medical correlation to you getting covid after boosters. It’s just that contagious.

but i’m sure it’s was minor for you…which is correlated to vaccines.

I had my one documented (tested) case after the third shot…because omicron was rampant and a lot of people had given up pre holidays.
But I have little doubt I had a case of alpha (before testing) in February 20 that most likely came from a trip in lovely universal Orlando in late January.

Disney really doesn’t like giving any notice in advance for anything anymore

I remember when I was there for New Years and they waited until the 29th to announce the plans for Epcot.

This wouldn’t be worth a mention if you didn’t have to plan reserve etc months in advance.

Not to be pedantic, but if you had it in Feb 2020 you probably had the Ancestral Strain, not Alpha. Alpha was the first major Varient that surfaced in late 2020.

I get that everyone is done with masks, but not everyone is going to be super happy about removing the mask mandate. We currently have a trip planned for April, as we assumed that vaccines for our 4-year-old would be approved by then. But with the news this week, it looks like that's not going to be the case.

I think I'd be okay with either all of us vaccinated, or a continued indoor mask mandate at the parks. However, I'm not sure how I feel about no vaccine for my 4-year-old and no masks, so I'm seriously thinking about whether to cancel our trip.

On the other hand, they're also removing masks in schools here in Massachusetts at the end of the month, so there's a better than even chance that he'll catch covid sometime before April trip anyway. Wife and I are waxed and boostered, DS 11 is 2x vaxed with Pfizer... So we'll see, probably hold on to the trip for now and see what happens. But it is added a lot of anxiety to a trip that we mentally desperately need.

I am holding off on a 4th shot until later. I am not anti vaxxer but I am just not interested in being poked every few months for a virus that seems to be winding down and not as deadly as it started.

IMO, the biggest problem with making an announcement lets say on a Friday saying masks will be removed on Monday or Tuesday etc....

is people will just say, but its being dropped tomorrow or Monday or whatever why do i have to wear it now.

This is why the last time they mad a mask announcement it went into effect the next morning. Same as Universal

Focusing solely on the masking topic and given the random and rapid rate of change, what would you prefer they do? Should they wait for weeks or months to make a change because ‘people have to plan’? We have spent the last 2 years in a world where guidance and conditions are constantly changing and everyone in the industry is having to constantly adjust and adapt. Some like Disney have taken a very conservative approach to their actions and timing of changes while others have been a little less so. It seems to me the best answer is to be ready and willing to constantly adjust and adapt to current guidance and conditions, vs ‘waiting’ for some arbitrary notification interval.

This post isn't a pro or con for the great mask debate. My biggest grievance with Disney is there actions haven't show evidence on what criteria needs to happen for their mask policy. This makes planning a trip very stressful for both sides of the argument. Who are in favor of the mask, and those who are against it. Universal timeline makes sense. They restore the policy when COVID rates were high, now removed said policy when it's low again. Disney criteria is hidden that makes me feel like Charlie from It's always Sunny. I live in Maine, many towns reinstated masks but since dropped it. They said they would revisit the issue if COVID rates go up again. I'm okay with that because I know the criteria. This helps me psychology too. For example, your driving endless for hours. It feels longer because you don't know how long the trip is.

My guess, it'll be in March. Why? Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser? Or, during the warmer months. I think that's why this thread has countless of posts, we don't know what Disney is thinking or their criteria regarding mask.

I think it was made clear, the CDC has specific recommendations of a threshold where masks can be removed, until now that's what Disney has been following. It had just barely got into that point in Orange county in December, and then Omicron showed up.
