Basically, this whole thing comes down to this:

Unvaccinated people refuse to wear masks, so vaccinated people have to wear masks.

There goes my trip to Disneyland in September, although I'm tempted to go somewhere fun very soon before the Delta variant mutates into something more deadly that renders the vaccine useless and puts us all back where we started in March 2020.

All because extremely ignorant people refuse to get vaccinated. It's all infuriating.
The Director of the CDC stated today that vaccinated people are spreading the virus.

Surely hope that fireworks keep happening and plexiglass stays in storage. We were there last July - trip started one day after the reopening. We wore masks in mid-July from the moment we left our room to the moment we got back into it (except while eating). Yeah, it was hot and I sweat quite a bit, but we certainly did it. No problem doing it in 3 weeks when we are back again. Had people been honest and worn masks if they were not vaccinated, we likely would not be in this situation. Oh well, still going to have an excellent time.

Many of the CMs have young children back at home who are unable to be vaccinated and they understand that although they may not get seriously ill themselves, they could pass COVID to their children.
That’s fine.

They would still be safer vaccinated would they not?

Other major companies have announced a vaccine requirement like Netflix.

It’s time for Disney to step up.

I always wonder why they make a delay between announcing and Implementing policy. It’s not like you have to figure out how to get a mask if it starts tomorrow. I bet the shopDisney folks are kicking themselves now for their mask sale!
Disney is a huge operation with a lot of departments that will be involved in this. It takes time. I actually think they are doing well to roll this out so fast, and also being one of the very first to do it.

You do realize the vaccine is far from being risk free, correct?

Precisely. They will use the next day to get all the messaging synchronized at every resort, park, store, and indoor space. Need to put signs back up, and make any other changes that are needed to accommodate.

While the reason behind this (surging cases) is troubling, this is a relief to me as it pertains to my scheduled trip next month.

My first preference would be a vaccine passport - only let in vaccinated people and we wouldn’t need masking (theoretically.) Since the government prohibited that (which I will never understand) this is the next best thing.

Now I just need to find a nice, private dining event type situation.

We were there the exact same time and had the exact same experience! Masks aren’t fun but they’re not horrible.
