Have you checked the prices yet? I'm sure they will be in line with similar cruises by other companies. Even so, many will pay a little extra for the family environment and Disney magic.
Wanna bet? I had a post on DCL's unbelievable high prices last month and believe me, I don't want to open up that can of worms again but in case you want to see how Disney's prices are "in line", here's an example:
Royal Caribbean has 5 Western Caribbean sailings from Miami in April -
Prices start at $599 for an inside cabin and from $699-$899 (depending on the date) for an outside cabin.
RCCL has 5 Eastern Caribbean sailings from Miami in April -
Prices start at $599 - $699 for an inside cabin and from $750 - $849 for an outside cabin.
Holland Americas Western sailings in April start between $602.52 - $652.70 for an inside cabin and $702.70 for an outside cabin. (their 4/9 sailing is pricier)
HAL's Eastern Caribbean sailings run at $706.83 for an inside and $806.84 for an outside.
Celebrity's Western Caribbean itinerary for April starts at $550 for an inside and $650 for an outside (an amazing bargain!)
Celebrity's Eastern Caribbean Cruises come in at $690 for an inside and $800 for an outside
Princess Cruises (Western in April) start at $749 for an inside and $899 for an outside
Princesses Eastern are priced starting at $699 for an inside and $749 for an outside
Now it's fair to say that these cruiselines are all competitively priced and "in line" with one another. Let's look at DCL:
Their two Western Caribbean sailings start at $1397.80 - $1855.80 for an inside cabin and between $1855.80 - $2404.80 for a catagory 9 (lowest catagory) outside stateroom. Yes that price is Per Person.
The Eastern sailings run between $1386.45 - $1770.40 for an inside cabin and between $1823.45 - $2390.45 for an outside.
Now according to my calculations Disney is running twice as expensive as the other cruise lines. (I didn't price Carnival because most readers agree that they're not as competitive in quality. I also didn't price Norwegian or Costa because I just got tired of researching all of this. ) Now I'm not here to argue whether or not Disney is worth all of the extra money but I will definately state that their prices are not "in line with similar cruises". Costumers are gonna have to pay a whole, whole, whole lot extra for the "family enviornment and Disney Magic".
