Disney Launches a Twitter account for ONE attraction

From that article, it looks like it's not so much for one ride as it is for what they are considering turning into a movie. The article points out that there is a movie that IMDB thinks is releasing in 2014 or so.

Even so, I am looking forward to following other individual rides and park locations if they pop up. Be on the lookout for @bathroomsnearpeterpansflight .

Love it! Just "followed" Jungle Cruise, as an original attraction I think its amazing it's got it's own account, such fun!

Giving some attention to an often under appreciated ride like the Jungle Cruise is always a good idea.

Let's hope this means they'll begin giving some attention to the ride and it's distinctive lack of merchandising as well...

EDIT: I have to laugh at the author of that article a bit though. Complaining that the tweets were sent over the web when they say it's from a smartphone. Lighten up a little!

Could be interesting. There is theoretically enough of a backstory and creative freedom associated with that ride to keep up a decent stream of tweets. And then tying in the movie rumor, it could be a good way to start to build hype.

If there was going to be a twitter devoted to any one attraction, the Jungle Cruise is a pretty good choice.

What's to stop a bunch of fanboys from creating accounts in the names of all the attractions?

Hmm - that kind of makes me want to register accounts using all the attraction names in the hopes that Disney will pay me to buy the rights to the account....

Sounds like this is an extension on their current TV ads, which feature the animals coming to life when no one is around... Sounds cool!

Do you by any chance have a YouTube link of these TV ads? I live in London, so I don't see the same TV ads...

Disney has launched a Twitter account entirely dedicated to one attraction. Cool, or waste of time?

I don't even know what to say ... about the account of the existence of the site. ... Probably a future six/seven figure 'consultant' for TWDC since he's been blogging for all of three months.

This quote from his post on the InsideEars caught my attention (naturally!):
"Overall, I’m excited for many reasons. First, it’s another step toward Disney allowing its brand evangelists to play a role in the company, without actually being employed by them. Disney is slowly but surely handing over control of the information flow to fans. Second, I love that Disney is now identifying actual Community Managers, something that I think the Parks & Resort department can really benefit from. (Kind of like Stacey…but more accessible.)"

Brand evengelists? Well, certain Disney podcasters give off the same slimey vibe as TV preacher. ... But not being employed by the company? This is where people seem to think things like free trips, tickets, swag and access to celebs/Imagineers/execs has a value whether you can place a number on it (you could always make on up like Facebook's IPO!:rolleyes::rolleyes:) And control to the fans? ... Um ... nope. This is designed to CONTROL THE FANS. After all, any/every Disney webmaster/podcaster/blogger truly has your and my best interests at heart when they blather on about how amazing the new SoTMK game is ... or how Splash Mountain looks like it just opened yesterday (they don't see any irony in that statement ... just think about it from a Spirited cynical take!)

As to Community Managers, all I can wonder is what he thinks we all are ... sheep needing to be herded by Lou Mongello, Ricky Brigante, Tom (forgot his last name, seriously) etc?

As the absurdly long FP discussion should show the community is a free for all and I kinda think that's the way it should be.

Unless everyone wants to annoint a King of the Disney Fanbois?:king:

Any volunteers? :drevil:
