Disney is going to scale back the Polynesian DVC plans in a big way.

I hear that the plans for the DVC at the Polynesian is still to start this year and finish by 2015 or 2016 but they are not going to do as much as was in the original design. Also major changes to the GCH and addition of Trader Sams. I hope to have more I can share soon.

I would love to see them keep the atrium at GCH.

The water feature will be gone. Not sure if Trader Sam's will go in at the GCH or if they were smart they would put it in its own stand alone building near the beach over at Luau Cove with a nice outdoor deck to watch the lagoon.

Rats. So much for ambience. The water feature and the atrium are a big part of that resort for me personally.

That's really disappointing. I don't spend much time admiring it, but knowing it's not there will be a big blow to the resorts identity and nostalgia imo.

That's definitely a bummer. I just stayed at the Poly last month for 6 nights. After what you've been posting with regard to the fate of the water feature, I made a point to just chill in the GCH one evening with my wife to enjoy a cocktail and the atmosphere. It will definitely be missed.

Even though we experienced some issues on our recent stay, it was still enjoyable and Brian Vucinich in guest services went out of his way to make things right.

Im still trying to find out more details. Not sure how it will affect those plans yet. At this point I would not be surprised if they place a doughboy in the ground and called it a waterpark.
