If someone has legitimately never been to, say, Yosemite, but is telling people they are going to Yosemite as cover for their Nth visit to WDW, that person needs to seriously broaden their horizons. Go to Yosemite; it's an absolute marvel.

You pay for it, my family of four is there. Until then.....

Oh goodness, I don't know how many times I've heard my family say "Aren't you bored with that place yet? You must have seen it all by now" They are so clueless. I have to explain to them how it's always changing, and somethings you WANT to see over and over again. Most of the time I just tell them they don't understand and to just drop it.

Maybe your a boring person and a weirdo, for not finding anything interesting in all these places that you've been to revisit.

I've revisited a good number of locales. Two years in a row? No thanks.

There's no reason to be offended here. Embrace your oddity.

Here is a list of places I tell the firm I have been when in fact I have never been

Key West
San Francisco
Savannah GA
Pacific Coast Highway
Palm Beach
Miami

Tell your co-workers to shove it. If you go to Orlando on a yearly basis then don't worry about it. Almost everyone who teases you about it is jealous of you I guarantee it.

I have some nausea-inducing stories from my work. I went recently in September 2009 and March 2010. Both times with my wife. I'm a 30 year old man, a pretty macho man, but even a macho man can appreciate what Walt left for us. The architecture alone is worth the trip. The attention to details on the rides. The fact that it's nostalgic and is very different from a normal theme park. I say don't ever wilt when someone bugs you about it. Stand firm and laugh back at them.

There is an older man at work who would constantly berate me about it. It really genuinely bothered him that I went there and enjoyed it. And it bothered him even more that I went again and didn't care what anyone else thought. So he literally copied a picture from my Facebook of my wife, myself and Donald Duck. It is a great picture. But he brought it into work, made 10 copies of the picture and passed it around to people in the department. No joke. A few people laughed, most people thought he was retarded. This guy was that obsessed with smearing a Disney World trip, he really was.

I can laugh at things, I really didn't care. I told him I liked the picture and it was my wife's first time there and she never hesitated to see the characters. I also told him you have to be there to realize why you won't care to get your picture taken with a character, even as an adult. Then I said, do you notice anything else about the picture? We have smiles from ear to ear. We're delighted in that picture and it's a wonderful memory from the best trip I have ever been on. And if that's still funny then so be it. Between that and me telling him I actually rode Dumbo, well, let's just say he always has some material and I say bring it on!

My opinion is that you should never have to explain why you are a kid at heart. Or that you aren't hard to please. Or that you love to visit a place that was specifically designed for every age group and it delivers in that guarantee.

Honestly, does anyone have a situation worse than mine from a moron who can't "get it"?

Another thing, look I love other trips too. I've been to Cuba and Dominican in all inclusive resorts the last three years. Yes I am a Canadian so I could get into Cuba (sorry my American neighbours) but how is going to a beach year after year different than Disney year after year?

In all honesty, Dominican is a better place than Cuba, but at the end of the day you go there to relax for 7 days and swim for the most part. When you go to Disney you do the same things over again right? Not much of a difference in my mind.

People return to New York, Vegas, Niagara Falls all the time, even every year. And why not? Those are great locations and so far I have only been to the third of the bunch. No matter how often I see the "Falls" I am amazed. Ditto for Cinderella's Castle. It is a masterpiece. I never get sick of seeing it. I may be the only person on the planet either who never gets sick of the song "Its a Small World". I genuinely pity the people who never get the chance to go to WDW.

I mean you're never going to please everyone and someone is always going to rip on you for doing something. Whether it's that you eat weird food or watch too much Star Wars. You're not going to get away from haters, so you just have to ignore them.

I used to tell people I hoped to one day work at WDW. I would get weird looks or "okay..." I guess no one realized the difficulty and prestige associated with being hired by WDI. My professors are a different story, but students? They look at me like I have horns growing out of my head.

My boyfriend didn't really understand the draw of WDW for me, but, because he's a good boyfriend, he has done his best to understand and now he's thrilled about us being able to go Spring '12 with my family. Basically, if they are people who really care about you, they will do their best to understand, even if they really don't (in my experience anyway). If they are peers, co-workers, etc... Well, if they don't get it, they won't get it.

That dude sounds like a real AH, if you know what I mean. Good for you for not giving a darn. I highlighted by favorite sentences in your story. Bravo! :sohappy:

The thing that really pushed me to ask this was the fact that my younger cousin was the one who was taunting me about. It seems as if thats the only thing he has to come at me with, and not 1 time goes by that I see him, that disney and my love for it isnt mentioned in some way. The thing I find funny is that the kid is obsessed with cruises. Knows everything about them, and has been on multiple cruises every year for the past couple of years.

Now I dont hate cruises, but I have done just about every cruise that has left from port of miami and has gone to visit the poor broken down islands.
nassau, bahamas, key west, cozumel, coco key, coco cay. I just dont see the draw of being on a cruise all day, riding to a little rinky island where all there mainly is to do is shopping or lay on the beach.

I live 15 min away from some of the nicest beaches around here. And shopping for overpriced trinkets have never been my thing. The only way I will go on a cruise again is if it were to go to somewhere substantial, like italy, china, or alaska. But he will take a cruise anywhere as long as its a cruise. He doesnt see the irony in how he ridicules me about going to disney so much, yet he takes cruises multiple times a year, TO THE SAME PLACES!

But in his mind "he wins" because disney is still for babies. I think I do need to take one of the poster's replies and seriously just KICK HIM IN THE NUTS!

Some people like to go to the beach, take cruises, or camp. I don't like the beach (ultimate sin for someone from WV). I do not get camping. I've never been on a cruise (going on our first one this year). I like to go to Disney World.

Haha... Lucky you (us) that your preferred pastime is the most expensive option.

MickeyMind, I'm a 27-year-old male and I feel you, though I don't really care what anyone thinks or says. I'm going back to WDW on Thursday with my 30-year-old sister (also a Disney fanatic) and when I told my friends, they said "Didn't you just go there in July?"

But there is a reason I like going to Disney over going to places like New York, LA, San Francisco or any major city. I live in a major metropolitan city and going to another one doesn't seem like a vacation to me. I find it exhausting and I know too many people in those cities anyway. I don't have to worry about impressing anyone at Disney because I don't know anyone there. I can act like a kid, and if I look like a fool who is going to say anything about it?

Most people ask me why don't I go to Universal since it's more "grown up," but honestly I hate roller coasters and that's like 80% of what US and IoA is.

And even though my friends gave me a hard time about going back again, once I told them all the cool stuff I was doing (the shows, dining, etc.) a lot of them admitted to me they were jealous. And this coming from a bunch of 20- and 30-somethings who think they are "cooler" than 99% of the human race I guess says something.

Also, I've been all over the world, so it's not like I don't realize Disney isn't exactly reality. I can distinguish that it is a tourist trap. But doesn't that make it all the more kitschy? Who needs the real Hollywood when you have a glamorized version that never really existed?

Plus, I'm a Florida native. I've been going to Disney since I was 5 (best Christmas EVER). I still remember clearly the first time I went and how happy I was. I keep going back to WDW because I'm always after that same feeling, and Disney has never let me down.

You and I are in the EXACT same boat. I'm 24 year old male, and to me, nothing is better than WDW. Now that I have a real job and have been working for about a year and a half, I find myself trying to plan several trips throughout the year. I was there in June 2010, and just had to go back a few weeks ago in January. AND I'm planning BOTH a June trip with some friends, and a quick trip over the weekend of the 40th Anniversary. My immediate family is somewhat supportive, though they encourage me to save money and not "waste" it on things like that....but none of my co-workers, friends or extended family really understand. They think it's ludacris that I would go so much.

I think most of the time, the problem with adults is that they don't experience Disney the way we do. To them, going to WDW means spending a ton of money on the kids, long, hot, sweaty days and lines for kid rides, and over-priced food and hotels. Especially for an adult who doesn't quite know how to "do" WDW the way we do!!

Same exact things happens to me with people asking "Why do you keep going?" I'm a music teacher at an elementary school, so of course we're always singing a few Disney songs here and there...but just the other day I was in the hallway and some of my students were eagerly asking me about my trip. The computers teacher overheard the conversation and said "Oh my god, Dan, you did not go AGAIN? Why!??!" I was embarassed, but the kids came to my defense, shouting about how great it was.

You took the words out of my mouth. Let me add Main Street Electrical Parade, walking down the middle of Main Street USA, and riding the monorail to your list. All worth the entire trip to me. And it will NEVER get old...I too was there in January, and I want to go back RIGHT NOW!!!

Are we meant to be best friends forever? Hahaha! You took the words right out of my mouth. I actually use a defense like this when people question my 13 trips to WDW. I say "Well, some people like to go to the beach every summer, some go to museums, some go to other countries. I go to Walt Disney World. I'm not bothering you by it, so why get worked up about it?" I don't much care for the beach at all, and I've been to Europe. I would like to travel to see the rest of the USA some time, but until I raise massive funds and travel partners for that, I'm more than happy to keep going to see Mickey and the gang.

This is actually pretty hilarious that you lie about where you've been. I can imagine how tough it can be with an elitist bunch, and I'm sorry that you have to keep it to yourself. I"m the same way with all of my co-workers here at school. I don't tell any of them, and I'm starting to not tell the students either because they tell everyone else, "Mr. Kitching is going to DISNEY AGAIN! COOOOL!"
I will be your new best friend! Haha, I'm glad someone else is with me.

Even attractions like the People Mover (TTA) and Hall of Presidents are worth the price of admission to me. I absolutely love it. My buddy spent $4k for 2 people to be stuck on a cruise ship for 7 nights and another spent $3k for 2 to get burned on the beach in Jamaica. Really? Give me WDW every time.

I do like traveling and seeing other parts of the world, food, and culture. However, Disney is that kind of trip where you just KNOW you'll love it and you know you'll you'll get your money's worth.

I hate the "going there again" comment, but I especially hate it coming from people who go to the same place camping or whatever every year. I usually just say yes and ask them if they are going camping or to vegas or whatever again this year. And then when they say yes, I ask them well doesn't that get boring, haven't you already seen what is there. They really don't get to correlation but I think it is funny.

Don't even get me started on Vegas. I've been and it was potentially the most boring trip I've experienced. People act like it's the greatest thing but they lose money and don't remember half of it.

I think the "Didn't you just go?" comment comes from those who wish they could travel to Disney or anywhere as often as we do. It's envy ;)
