What the hell does this even mean?! Could they make this any more complicated? No thanks, I'll be keeping my gold.

It means they want to give locals a reason to go to Epcot on slow days. I count 96 blackout days for the silver (quick math, may be wrong). This means the Select pass lets you go to SOME park on 50ish days the Silver would mean you need to stay home, but it has 100 days where they may tell you DHS and AK are blacked out because we think Pandora and TSL are going to make them to crowded. But you can go spend your money at Epcot instead.

So if you are a local who is smart enough to avoid WDW completely in the middle of summer and around Christmas (or whatever those 40 complete blackout days are) and doesn't mind only going to AK midweek (or however it works out), then this may definitely work to your advantage.

Can someone explain what the new pass is in English? We are Silver resident passholders thinking of downgrading to weekday select pass due to the huge price increase in resort prices (paid parking).

Less complete blackouts, but many days where your park choice may be limited. So it may blackout Epcot on the first and last few days of F&W, but still let you into MK, AK and DHS those days. Conversely, Epcot may be your only park choice on weekends in April, May and June. I'd expect the Christmas break, and then maybe 4th of July and a few other popular days to be totally black outed.

When the calendar comes online I think it will make it alot clearer. Definitely targeting people who have a fair amount of flexibility and aren't necessarily set on what park they go to.

So it’s the same price as Silver. What’s the difference? “Flexible” blackouts?
More days of park access but for many days you're restricted to certain parks

Ladies and gentlemen: our first truly “upsell” tickets...

Moving bars with tons of trade offs/variables...the resulting ticket sold in pieces ends up being in the range of a less limited ticket up front..in this case the “gold” ticket.

Not really. But it's fun to hear people complain about paying $89 for a whole month of access

I'm not complaining because I think it's nice of them to offer it. BUT - I think most people won't bite.

It's hot, it's humid, it's crowded, raining pretty much every day. If you live within driving distance and didn't already elect to get a gold pass or upgrade (which you can do, if you're regretting the blockouts) by this point in the summer, you're probably not interested. You can just wait a month, go, and pay nothing extra. Wait a little longer than that and it'll be less crowded with better weather, outside of a few named storms blowing in.

it's shocking the moment blackouts were introduced there wasn't a means of capitalizing on that, so the add-ons are a long time coming

far as the florida resident theme park select pass *pant*
options are always good, but will result in even more controlled dispersal (balancing of bodies), so know that going in...
intro reeks like reaction to a leak, tho - without the associated calendar it makes little sense to even consider and results in the aforementioned needless confusion.
