'Disney Insider'- Everest date?

I just got a Disney Insider e-mail (the e-mail officially sent by disney for news, trivia, etc.... ala Disney Magazine.)

It had a section about Everest and the Discovery Channel TV show.

"It's the premise of Disney's Animal Kingdom park's newest attraction, Expedition: Everest, set to debut in April; but for a small group of Imagineers, conservation experts, and research biologists, it's also a thrilling reality."

*shrug*

It probably has been but I did not want to believe an exact month even until I heard it from Disney. I try to avoid a lot of the everest stuff because it always turns into rumors and arguments. I'm not a fan of many threads like that.

I just read the email myself, and you beat me to posting it. While everyone has had their own speculations, I do believe this is the first time Disney has given us an actual month. I suppose this puts to rest any chance of test rides before the end of the year, and those who suggested Febuary as a likely soft opening, that sounds about right with this new opening month confirmation from Disney.

Maybe around Disney, April is a conditional release date which is semi-unoffical. So it can be confirmed or changed alter. It probably is fairly accurate I think, but don't hold your breath.

Those official newsletters and former Disney magazine publications dont really have any idea of whats going on. They are often created by people who dont really have any knowledge of the situation, and they quote "safe" time frames. We know for sure that without any major problems, Everest will be open by April 2006, and we have known that since it was announced. If you followed the opening dates of these past official publications you would have missed the opening of Rock n Roller by about 4 months, and Mission Space by a couple of months.

Hence the *shrug* at the end ;)
I take all opening dates with a grain of salt. lol.
It was interesting that they have said a month (I'm sure they have before and I have just missed it.)

I got this in my e-mail this morning too, and it was the first thing I'd noticed. April is fine, but I would then expect soft openings/AP Previews in March (or at least that's what I'm hoping for [12-17]..). Actually, I have a AP Preview question: Can you still get the info/invitation to an AP preview if you haven't activated the actual AP passport in a park yet? Like, if we bought ours now, would we receive updates, discounts, etc. before we activate them in March or after? This may be a silly question but it's just something I've been wondering... thanks! :D

Don't think so as they will not have your email address attached to an AP until it is activated.

I am going at the end of December and frankly, I don't have high hopes for it being open. The truth is, as many have said before, there is still a lot of work inside the mountain to be done. Just because they have been testing the coaster really doesn't mean they are that close to being done, it just means that the train can run on the track now. And the last time I remember them being way off on openings, it wasn't in a "good" way.

One thing that I've noticed on this thread is no one has mentioned one thing, do not go by how the outside looks, it does not mean it's finished, they still have alot more to do on the inside, remember the story is in the inside, and alot more work and testing has go on there, just wanted to mention that:)
