Disney in October

Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me some info/advice. I am looking at visiting WDW in Oct 2014. I have never visited at this time of year before, I have been in August, November, Jan, Easter and June before but never this time. I was wondering will the weather be good enough to visit the water parks daily. Also I am presumming this but I guess the parks will be relatively quiet? Any info you can give me would be great about this time of year.
Thank you in advance.

We went in late October a couple of years ago and the weather was great. Crowds were very manageable as well. We've been a couple of times in November as well, and it was very similar, both crowds and weather.

We went mid-October in 2011. The weather was fantastic! We all wore sweatshirts in the early morning, but then were in shorts and tanks or tshirts during the day and evening. Mid-day would probably be warm enough for the water parks. Crowd level was very manageable. We basically walked on to everything and we FP what we would have to wait for.

The second half of October is our favorite time to visit. The weather is starting to cool a little. Most days you can still go to a water park or hit the pool. Usually by the second half of October, the hurricanes are done. It has become more crowded in recent years due to the popularity of the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival & MNSSHP. We love Halloween at MK ! In fact, we did a bounce back & are returning to WDW again this October 2013.

Early October can still be rather humid and have the summer pattern of afternoon thunderstorms, but the weather transitions during the month. The later part of the month the weather becomes less humid and comfortable. The end of the month will usually bring the first cold front. Cold by Floridian standards, but nothing a notherner can't handle.

I went in Early October last year and while it was hot, it was nice. Did have downpours a couple of times, but not too bad. I brought a sweatshirt, but I ended up not needing it.

We go for 14 nights minimum in Oct, as we get 2 weeks school holidays then. The weather is good (compared to UK). It rained one trip but it was manic for about 10 minutes and then gone, we were in TL and we were their to get wet so it was no problem. I did take a light jumper a night as it got cold in the restaurants with the air con, but shorts and t shirt during the day. The crowds are not a problem and we have F&W and MNSSHP. We have even bought DVC with points for this time of year. I know I should really be saying that it is an awful time to go, to stop more people changing to Oct. lol

Our first trip to WDW was Sept 29-Oct 5, 2009. The crowds were very manageable, but Florida had a heat wave during that time. Record heat in the high 90's. We will definitely go back in October in the future. Magic Kingdom is decorated in fall colors and Halloween and is beautiful.

It's wonderful. Sometimes it is even too cool (but bearable) to swim! We only went to MNSSHP on a sold out night and DTD seem busy late at night (11pm) but it was still much better than summer. I loved it! Everything is decorated (not as much as Christmas) in bright fall colors. I recommend it! :)

The first part of October is usually very warm or hot and can still be humid. At some point during that glorious month, though, the humidity breaks and it begins the wonderful fall/winter season in Orlando. I was just saying to my neighbor today that it's getting humid and rainy and soon we will all be hibernating again and waiting for October, lol.

It can also get very chilly. A friend and I visited Orlando in the third week of October once. We were from a cold place, too. We wore jeans and light, long-sleeved shirts. By six at night, we were shivering and each plunked down $60 for jackets. Wouldn't have wanted to be in a water park THAT day.

So, it just depends. I know that isn't the most helpful answer, but it's honest!

I hope you have glorious weather. :)

We have been several times in October between the 1st and the 22nd and I don't recall even one day that it was not warm enough to swim. We even went in mid November one year and it was warm enough to swim all but one day.

We have traveled to Disney every Oct. since 2003, and have never found it too cold to swim. Some days here and there might be a little chilly, but most of the time the weather is just fine. It is a great time to go. Food and Wine is great. It does get a little crowded on weekends with the locals coming out. Eat to the Beat concerts are sometimes quite entertaining also. We saw Sugar Ray two years ago and he was really good. The crowds are quite manageable. I think you will enjoy.

October is our month of choice every year! Between the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot and MNSSHP at Magic Kingdom its wonderful! The parks are still pretty busy, especially the weekends, but not so crazy that you can't move. Last year, was the first year it was a wee bit chilly to swim (thank you, Hurricane Sandy) but usually temps are in the 80s-90s during the day and 60s-70s at night. Perfect!!!

We visited October 8-13, 2012, and I'd recommend that time of year to anyone. The weather was beautiful (not a drop of rain, and unseasonably warm -- mid-80s every day). The crowds were "low to moderate," which meant that with strategic use of fastpasses and arriving at rope drop (and with a single exception, when BTMRR broke down one afternoon), we were able to cover all 4 parks in 5 days and never waited more than 10 minutes for anything. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and bus service was fantastic -- again, except for a couple of anomalous occasions, we never even had to wait for a bus more than 10 minutes. We only saw a couple of large teenage touring groups -- they happened to be from Ecuador -- but we just stayed out of their way and they didn't appear to be chanting or doing anything obnoxious anyway.

We visited the Food and Wine Festival twice. It was great during the day, and we enjoyed sampling from the booths. At night, though, the "adult crowd" dominated and a few folks were staggering around from too much "high octane liquid pixie dust" and nearly stepping on our two small children, so we learned to stay away from it in the evening. Had it been just DH and I, we'd have loved it, and probably would have wanted to attend one or more of the Food and Wine Festival concerts.

Also, keep in mind that Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party will be going on, and the Magic Kingdom will be closing early multiple days every week. You'll either want to shell out more money and purchase tickets to attend the party, or adjust your itinerary to avoid the Magic Kingdom on the days it will be closing early for the party. (Or if you have Park hoppers, take advantage of the lower crowds in the MK on those days, and then hop somewhere else as closing time approaches.)

We went October 26th-Nov 1st this past year and it was my favorite time to go. I went to my first MNSSHP and F&W festival and loved both of them!! The weather was perfect, early morning and late evening we wore a sweatshirt, but I kept my shorts and flip flops on the entire week. Its funny to see the FL residents wearing bulky jackets and gloves, but since we are from PA we thought the weather was warm. We didn't go swimming, but the afternoons were warm enough to do so. I loved that time of the year so much that as of this morning I am planning a trip for the second week of November so I can still do the F&W festival and get to see the MVMCP for the first time. Now just to tell my bf we are going back to Disney this fall instead of a relaxing island vacation that he was planning
