Disney Hotel in Washington DC.

Disney @ National Harbour

Maybe the Disney people see something here ($$$) but IMO I was not impressed with the overall National Harbour project. You pay to park, not much to do, very few restaurants. The existing Gaylord operation seems lackluster compared to Gaylord's Nashville & Florida operations. Duckberg :hurl:

Yeah. I haven't been to that area, but the concensus I've read (prior to this) hasn't been very impressive.

But $11 million is absolute peanuts to the Mouse, even in these economic times.

My guess would be they'd tie this into the Adventures By Disney tours in the area ... perhaps, even add some DCL component as well during the summer out of Baltimore.

Of course, nothing could happen too.

Disney hasn't announced any timeline specifics at all. And they've announced parks, DVC and DisneyQuest ventures in the past (even started site work on some, others just acquired real estate) only to abandon them. ... So I guess time will tell.

So this would essentially be a vestige of Disney's America finally realized, a Mid-Atlantic property (sans attractions, of course). The Adventures by Disney tours, combined with this hotel, would create even more of a Disney's America simulation...

Strange news, interesting, weird timing...

I haven't been over there yet, so I can't personally comment. But I do get the impression that it is still very much a work in progress. For sure, snagging Disney was a major coup for the developers.

I think they need some kind of "attraction(s)" to pull more people to the area. Some museums, shows, or something. All the stores that are there are present elsewhere in DC. Right now, it's conventioners only.

But if anything, the new Disney hotel it will be a great place for a DC area wdwmagic meet. :)
