I think it's cute! Some friends of mine, who live in Orlando, met us last May at the Studios and asked us to take their picture with the hats on. We thought it was a joke. It was their way of telling us that they had just gotten married (3 hours before). They also used the picture to tell family and friends of their wedding.

It's silly ... but on the other hand I have a hard time knocking someone who went to all of our collective favorite place in the world to celebrate what probably will be the best time of their lives, the meshing of two favorite life moments doesn't sound too bad. Personally ... I wouldn't do it, not just the hat and veil but go to Disney at all for my honeymoon ... I'd be too conflicted and I'd hate to leave the wife to sneak in that extra ride on the Jungle Cruise or worse ... or better that extra meet n' greet with Ariel!! :sohappy:

I am sorry, but even though the weddings at Disney World are beautiful, the
Minnie veil & Mickey top hat are a bit too much.

As a Disney Honeymooner that wore his top hat ears, I had a wonderful time with it. We got congrats from many many cast members and a few guests. Got a few extra magical treats from many of the CM's including complimentary desserts at a few of the resort and park restaurants. Our waiter at Yachtsman's even brought my wife roses when we ate there. So while you are gladly entitled to your opinion, my wife and I enjoyed wearing them as it made a special trip even more so.

its silly, but look where you are. You're not going to get judged, you're in the happiest place on earth. Its a blast and a truely unique place where you can be anyone you want to be, and anyone can be a kid again. At Disney World, you can look or act as silly or as goofy as you want, and no one will even know the difference because they are acting the same!!

Who cares? They're having fun and not hurting anyone.

Too many other things to focus on at WDW than what other people are doing that doesn't have any affect on me.

Well said! If I wanted to wear clothes that weren't silly, I'd stay home and go to work!!!!

My better half and I got engaged right there in front of Cinderella's Castle AND honeymooned at WDW back in 2000. When I made our reservations I told them that we would be there on our honeymoon.....well....when we got into our room upon arrival, it was FULL of gold and silver balloons....there was a bottle of champagne (non-alcoholic of course), and an autographed photo of Mickey and Minnie (5x7) in their tux and wedding gown...ALSO there on the bed were the top hat with ears and Minnie ears with veil....we wore them the first day (heck I felt like I had to...seein' as how they were so good to us)...but not after that...in fact my wife still has those things around the house....somewhere??? That's one of the things I love SO much about WDW....they make you feel SOOO important...and it's those extra special little touches that make a WDW vacation SO enjoyable!!!! :sohappy: :sohappy:

People go to WDW to escape from reality - what better way than to wear ears and a veil ? You wouldn't catch me doing it though

I'm going to WDW for my honeymoon in January of 2007, and we WILL be wearing wedding ears. I don't care what anyone has to say. I don't see people complaining about people that wear the "It's my birthday" buttons or the birthday cake hat... what's the difference?

We went to Disney on our honeymoon and my wife wore the ears. She was all about wearing the ears, but I felt weird about wearing the top hat. My head was actually too big for the hat so I didn't even have to worry about it. It was kind of silly, but every show that we saw we were instantly involved in, culminating in me singing love boat over the loud speaker on the ferry from the Yacht and Beach Club to MGM. Everyone said that we should get the ears for the perks (parade and fantasmic seating), but the thing I will remember about the effect of the wedding ears are the memories that were made by cast members seeing the ears and thoroughly embarassing us. We shun the spotlight at all times, but we had a wonderful time being picked on with our ears.

awww why didn't they give ya the real stuff??? The staff at Boardwalk Inn have us a little steel beach pail with two little brandy glasses and 4 of those little airline sized bottles of various liqueurs with some chocolates in a Boardwalk box.

I can't believe that's coming from a Raiders fan. Who are you to judge what looks silly?

of course its silly!!
Its meant to be silly.
We wore the hats last year...not to rub it in or to get extra attention, but just to have fun and celebrate.
(although we only wore the hats for two days BECAUSE of all the attention we did get. As much as we appreciated the 'congrats' everywhere, after a while we did want to just blend in)

We weren't doing it to say "ooh look at me I'm special", as you say.
If that's so, then why have the birthday hats/buttons?
Why even have mickey ears hats at all?

I don't believe a honeymoon HAS to be private on an island somewhere...ours was private at times, but it was also fun celebrating with the other guests/CMs in the parks.

Anywho, I had a blast and can't imagine having spent it any other place.
I'm proud of my wedding ears

Very cute pic sissa216! Looks like you guys had fun.

I totally agree that a honeymoon doesn't need to be private on an island. A honeymoon should be what you as a couple want it to be. I've had friends and family who have done the island thing. Some loved it, some hated it. I've had friends and family who have done the WDW thing. Haven't ever heard any complaints.

Trust me, when my time comes, i will be there in ears and veil & with my hubby in top hat and we will be having a great time.

Plus I always figured one of the points of WDW is to be a kid again - and what better way to be a kid than be silly!

I think it's a nice thing and ties in to the whimsy of the surroundings. If a 35-year-old real investment banker from Ohio can spend his vacation wearing a Goofy hat, eating ice cream bars shaped like a mouse's head and riding Peter Pan's Flight, who's to begrudge a married couple from adding a little something to signify their union? I say more power to 'em.
