Disney hiring tik tok social media content creators

yeah, Tik Tok is literally the most popular social media platform, and only growing currently. If you think that Disney wouldn't pivot to advertise there, I don't really know what to say. Where was the outrage when Disney joined Instagram or Twitter? Surely they hired trained professionals to handle those accounts as well.

At least if it were around with different leadership we could look forward to snippets and hints at new attractions or quick behind the scenes teases.

Now, we can look forward to characters doing things oddly out of character and reveals of the latest plastic topped cup cakes.

TikTok is insanely popular among college students (and younger crowds). I despised it at first but eventually gave in right before Covid -- been addicted ever since lol.

Disney Parks alone has a big following on there. Just reading the comments and such, pretty insane the content they post generates much buzz.

My friends from college know I love Disney, and they always forward me their TikToks and ask questions. One of them found about the 50th celebration thru there and bam, they planned a trip with their family over the summer. So I would say it's doing the job fairly well.

Compared to Twitter and Facebook, I would say it's a better platform. People are much more creative on TikTok, it's quite insane and cool. I follow a bunch of SE's (software developers) on there since that's my field and really cool to relate daily to such crowd and learn tips/tricks that'll help me on the job.
TikTok's popularity has nothing to do with the fact that it's security is dismal and that it's owned by a Chinese company. (I have nothing against the Chinese people, but I don't trust any companies owned there to not be a puppet for the Chinese government...and I DO have BIG issues with the Chinese government.)

This is a pretty smart thing to do. You may not like TikTok but don’t be so stubborn as to claim it’s a bad business move. Marketing is hugely important.
Precisely. This is the right move. And as others have said, not only is this a backfill, but it's also completely independent from the other roles the OP mentioned.

For this reason I have never clicked any link to tiktok nor even had a passing thought about installing their app or opening an account. I don't even care if I could become a tiktok sensation and make millions of dollars, I can't stay far enough away because of what you posted.

Yuck. I'd guess most people using Tik Tok have no idea of where it comes from and the inherent risk of using it. Oh, well. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
I enjoy using it, and nobody has a reason to go after me, so it’s absolutely worth the risk. Who cares if they have my data?

Just what I want to experience, spend thousands of dollars to be in videos of vloggers or tik tokers who have their 5 seconds of relevance.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I don't get Tik Tokers, especially people who post literal videos of your house. Go on your Disney vacation, and someone knows your entire house plan and likely where your house is, a robber's dream come true. Most major social media sites have huge inherent risks that you take using. Posting where you are, your background or whatever are all risks. The worst thing is that people are willing to sacrifice their life security for a few bucks on the internet. In 50 years from now, I highly doubt any of these people will be relevant.

There's an old song that this brings to mind. I think I remember the lyrics correctly, so please bear with me if they aren't 100% correct.

"What the world... needs now... is more vapid... TikTok content..."

There's another quote that I know of that applies to each and every day - "I hope someday we realize what a huge mistake social media was" - Frank Abagnale

Just because it's not a bad business move to them doesn't mean it's not one of the worst things they've ever done.

cancer, noun - something evil or malignant that spreads destructively

Yes. TikTok is a cancer.

hyperbole, noun - exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.

And I bet you get all worked up when those youngins' play that rock music to darn loud.
