No, joking is good, but this wasn't about theme parks, this was about a hefty donation to a very worthy cause. It is tough to find a good reason to joke about it.
I really am impressed by your Trolling --- great effort.

Now that is funny!I really am impressed by your Trolling --- great effort.
and i dare anyone to fault them for giving this money to a worthy cause(even though it is a tax break).
Yep. Or I wouldn't have posted it.I knew it was a joke, that is why I posted what I did, however, with all the garbage that gets tossed around about how awful the Disney Company is, it wasn't really appropriate, don't you think?
Then I'm an overachiever aren't I?No, joking is good, but this wasn't about theme parks, this was about a hefty donation to a very worthy cause. It is tough to find a good reason to joke about it.

LOL it is a major tax break
If TWDC wanted to be really philanthropic, they could build an entire children's hospital and research institute much like the owners of the owners of the local NBA team.It is a tax break. Let's say TWDC has an effective tax rate this year around 33% so they save $1M on taxes by donating $3M. I don't think the major incentive for making the donation was tax savings. Spending $3M to save $1M is not good business. TWDC is being a responsible corporate citizen by giving back to the communities where they have major operations. It's what every major corporation in America should do (and lots do).
I don't think its a contest. A billionaire owner of an NBA team should be applauded for making a very nice charitable donation. That doesn't take away from what Disney did. I'm sure if you look at worldwide total charitable giving for TWDC the numbers are measured in the hundreds of millions. This is just one thing that they did.If TWDC wanted to be really philanthropic, they could build an entire children's hospital and research institute much like the owners of the owners of the local NBA team.
I absolutely agree charitable giving is no contest. But when giving is publicized as a center point of corporate sustainability metrics, it tends to turn it into a contest. If TWDC wanted to make a huge statement and a project that would yield tangible results in the lives of thousands for decades to come, why not drop a billion on the construction and operating endowment for a children's hospital in Celebration?I don't think its a contest. No doubt that would be a very generous move.I absolutely agree charitable giving is no contest. I'm sorry but if the aim of a contribution in the amount of what TWDC has given is to exemplify their corporate social responsibility, then they should consider something more in line with their market capitalization. Or they could just give a donation and just be quiet. If you want to make a publicized socially responsible donation do in respect to your market capitalization.
@Nubs70 is the winner of the inevitable "Disney should do more" comment.
Thanks for playing everyone. See you in the next Disney Charity thread.
RIDE IT! Ride that high horse!
