Disney Giftcard?

Have any of you ever used the Disney giftcard at WDW? We were thinking of getting one and adding $ every payday as extra spending for the trip. On the website it seems to look like you can use it for anything, even paying for resort reservations. I was curious to opinions by anyone who has used it. Any problems with it, etc.? It seems great and a way to control your spending while there.

Using the Visa( or any other Gift card with a credit card logo) is very simple if you have a cashier who knows what they are doing. If you don't know your balance, they should just call the number on the back and get it. If the purchase is for more than the balance, all they have to do is enter the balance before they hit the credit card key. Then you pay the difference.

You would think so, but every time we tried to use them the cashier just says, "Sorry, you card comes up denied...." which is kind of embarassing when you're standing in a lng line. Not just at Disney, but here at home, too. I'm still carrying them in my purse, probably will use them up buying packs of gum.....

Just tell them "I'd like to charge $5 to this card, and the rest to this other card." As another poster said, the registers at just about any major retail establishment can do this. You just need to have a cashier that's properly trained. If they can't do it (or do the swipe-card-and-it's-denied thing) ask for a manager, who WILL know how to process the transaction. (And don't feel bad about a long line behind you. It's the cashier's fault (or the store's for not training properly) for not being able to process the transaction, not yours)

I LOVE the gift cards. I try to use them often (I get them as gifts a lot from my students).

The pre-loaded Visa cards were a pain in the you know what for me, though. Both times I tried to use it, the cashier had to get the supervisor (s) to come over and assist her, because they had no idea how to process the transaction. The supervisor was nice, but I swear he punched far more keys on the register than seemed necessary for the transaction.

I've used the Disney card and have been quite happy with it. The pre-paid Visa cards are a nuisance and you need to investigate the one you'll buy to make sure there are no fees, but even if there are no fees, the fact that you've paid a fee to buy the card means you spent money unnecessarily since the Disney card has no fee.
