What do the standby lines look like?

None of the prices have changed since this morning.

It's 1:30 at WDW right now so here we go...

7DMT $12 next slot 5:25 pm wait time 90 min and this one went down 2.5 hours?
SM $9 next slot 1:35 45 min wait time

Frozen $11 next slot 2:20 wait time 60 min
Rat $11 next slot 7:15 virtual queue otherwise

ROTR none available wait time 105 min
MMRR $10 next slot 5:00 wait time 55 min

Avatar $14 next slot 5:20 wait time 80 min
EE $7 next slot 1:35 wait time 30 min

Some historical context, FWIW......

According to the D23 website:
When first introduced, a ticket book in 1955 was $2.50 and included park admission and tickets for 8 attractions.

In today's dollars this is ~$26. $26/8 attractions = $3.25 per attraction (includes admission to the park!!)

So..... yay?

So, I'm not as familiar with WDW's crowd flow. Are these normal standby times for these rides? Are they longer? Are they shorter?

(And... thank you for posting these.)

The good thing is we only have, what? Three rides that are under the Lightning Lane option? That’s not too bad, especially in comparison to WDW.
I'm just gonna ignore all the branding and pretend it's basically MaxPass. Hoping they add Genie+ as a pass add-on (but I guess that would defeat the purpose of the new system so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

Not even gonna look at the Individual Lightning Lanes. Those are very clearly not for me.

So Fall is almost over. Surprising that we still haven’t heard an official launch date for this.
We arrive on Tuesday for 4 nights. I'm torn whether I want it or not for our trip. At this point if they suddenly started offering it during our trip I could benefit from the learning curve aspect we saw during the early days of Genie+ in WDW. But on the other hand, it might be nice to visit without worrying about any of that rigamarole.

Maybe it'll go by way of MagicBands/FastPass+ and never come to Disneyland (or come after a decade in a modified/kneecapped form). Wishful thinking?

Heh, they have already replaced a lot of FP signage with LL. It definitely is still coming to Anaheim unfortunately :(

So we now have Virtual Queues, which are different than Boarding Groups, which are not the same as Genie+, which has different availability than Lightning Lane.

Have fun explaining that one to the day guests.

Great point!

Sadly, it's just Example #482 how today's TDA and Burbank executives have absolutely no idea who their park customers are and how they use their park product.

Maybe they want to wait til after the first of the year after seeing the wdw Thanksgiving week availability issues

I saw this recent photo on Twitter. It's a cluster of crowds and competing lines to get into the right line that isn't supposed to be a line because it's a lane. They are charging money for this Lightning Lane product...

I think my absolute favorite part of this photo...

Some Dockers-clad manager put up a few random non-matching patio umbrellas in the middle of this mess that obscure the WDI designed entry signage telling the customers which line to line up in for their lane. 🤣

You don't want it. The lines move so fast on most rides that the wait times are way off. Almost every line the Saturday I went was a third to half of what was posted.

I was in the same boat wondering if I wanted Genie+ for my trip and as it turned out it was probably better without it. Since you'll be there mid-week and most kids are still in school, I don't think it will be super crowded and if you just wait past the morning rush for Rise of the Resistance I don't anticipate you waiting for it for more than an hour tops. Don't be scared by the posted times as I found the wait for be much shorter.

Enjoy your trip!

Disney Genie and Disney Genie+ Service Coming to Disneyland Resort Beginning Dec. 8

Disney Genie service will be available at the Disneyland Resort beginning Dec. 8, 2021.

Built right into the existing Disneyland app, the Disney Genie service offers new features to help you create your best Disney day. With the Disneyland app, be sure to download the latest version and make sure that your notification and location services are turned on so you can get the most out of the app’s features.

The new service will include:

Complimentary Disney Genie Features

At the heart of the Disney Genie service are features like a personalized itinerary creator inspired by the things you tell us you love, helping you make the most of your park time so you can have more fun! Tell Disney Genie your favorite things – foodie experiences, must-do attractions, Super Heroes or princesses – experiences that make your Disneyland Resort day special, and Disney Genie does all the work to suggest fun options tailored to you.

The Disney Genie service will also offer great additional features like a personal tip board to see your favorite attractions and dining options in one central place, and forecasted future attraction wait times, helping you predict the best time to visit during the day.

These features are created to help you spend less time waiting in line, so you can enjoy more of what you love. What’s more, Disney Genie service even works around your existing plans, like dining reservations!

Similar to a navigation app on your phone, Disney Genie does all the work behind the scenes and updates your itinerary continually from morning to night so you can stay spontaneous and make the most of your time in the parks!
