In case any one was curious
So Thursday night, my dad and I flew down to Florida for the last ever Tower of Terror 13k. Luckily, our flight had Direct TV so I was able to watch The Office (best episode in years), 30 Rock, and the majority of the Yankee game. Nothing like people hooting and hollering on an airplane… too bad they lost. We arrived around 1:30 and hit the sack.
Got up early Friday, and after doing some mathematics that lead to an interestingly unexpected purchase, we headed to Epcot where the Food and Wine festival was in full swing. Had some eats, rode a few rides, grabbed a beer, then headed off to Magic Kingdom for a Halloween Party. The party was from 4pm-12am and the park was closed to the general public. No lines for rides, got a ton of free candy, and saw the Headless Horseman barrel down Main Street. Also of note, the new Hall of Presidents is excellent and pretty moving; worth seeing if you’re an American History nut.
Saturday night was the Tower of Terror 13k and 5k (which is what we ran). They did an awesome job with the race, which was also a murder mystery with clues throughout the run. I did very well in the run, and probably could have come in at a faster time if not for the humidity, which was brutal. After the race, Disney Hollywood Studios was closed for the runners, so again we enjoyed a night of beer and no lines for rides. If you wanted to know, beer and Toy Story Mania go well together. Got to bed around 3am, pretty much exhausted.
Sunday we enjoyed a day of park hopping. Had an 8 o’clock flight, but no Direct TV. However we were entertained by a nervous pilot who kept warning us of this brutal turbulance that we were going to encounter any minute… it never happened. Jim and I got home in time to see the end of the Yankee game, so the weekend ended quite wonderfully.
