Disney Dollars

Can anyone tell me about Disney Dollars. I understand maybe you can get them at any Disney Store, and then can be spent at WDW like at stores, restaurants, etc. I'd like to get some for the kids before we go, but not sure if it's a good idea if we won't be able to get rid of them. Also, I understand you can charge things back to your room from anywhere in WDW. Is this true and how have people felt this works? Thanks

Disney Dollars are just like real dollars except that they can only be spent at Disney "places". (Anywhere at WDW and Disneyland, the Disney Stores, etc.) They work at all restaraunts, shops, resorts, theme parks, etc. on Disney property. I have been giving my kids Disney Dollars as gifts and incentives over the course of the last two years in preparation for our June trip. Don't worry about them going to waste, I'm sure you can find PLENTY of places to spend them. Yes, you can use your resort room key to charge everything back to your resort and then just pay them at checkout, or just let the charges go on your credit card. In fact, if you find you have leftover Disney Dollars, you can use them to pay for your room charges. I hope this helps.

Although everything that Buckeye stated is correct..

Let me also add you can exchange your Disney Dollars back for US currency at anytime, at Walt Disney World or the Disney Stores. If you do not have a Disney Store near you, you can order Disney Dollars by mail by sending your request stating how much you want in what denominations ($1, $5, $10 or $50) to:

Walt Disney World Ticketing
PO Box 10140
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

All orders by mail will be charged $10 shipping and handling. There is a limit of $650 per order. Guests with questions about their exsisting order may call Ticket Services at (407) 566-4985. Hours are 8:30am - 4:45pm Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:15pm Saturday. Make checks payable to "Walt Disney World Ticket Services"

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

-edited to include $50 denominations-

Actually...

You are not able to exchange your Disney Dollars at Disney Store anymore. In May 2004, the company changed The Disney Store's return policy, and on the subject of Disney Dollars it goes:

"No refunds or credits on Disney theme park tickets, Disney Dollars, and gift cards/ceretificates."

I know our store got replenished on 5/4/05, and we were sold out of the Disney Dollars by 5/13/05. We never recieved the new $1 or $50 dollar. We did however recieve the new $5 and $10, and also a boat load of the traditional styled ones. Disney Stores are not going to be replenished again until 6/2... so... keep calling those stores if you want them. They are hot items.

Good to know, thanks!
Will Disney Stores still exchange/refund WDW merchandise?

For some reason, we are still accepting park/catalog/internet returns. I'm not sure how long that will last though unless it is somehow included in the contract between the two companies. With us being owned by The Childrens Place now, all that these returns are doing is affecting us in a negative way and then we are stuck with merchandise to sell that most of the time is defective or an odd size.

I just wish we were still owned by Disney... not that I don't appreciate the new company for what its done with us, but its just not as magical as it was when you knew your paycheck was coming from the mouse.

Has anyone had experience getting the Disney dollars they've earned on their Disney credit card? We've been using the card exclusively for over a year in preparation for our 2006 trip. I've been wondering how far in advance to ask for them and if there's any hassle involved.

You don't get Disney Dollars per-say. When you have earned at least $20 in Reward Dollars, you call Chase to request a Rewards Card (this is a separate card from your credit card.) Chase then transfer your earned dollars to the Rewards Card and you use it like a debit card until all your reward dollars are spent. You then call Chase again when ever you earn more Reward Dollars to download again to the same Rewards Card.

Just FYI, Bank One was recently purchased by Chase Bank, therefore the Disney Visa is now operated by Chase. No changes in credit card or reward terms have been made.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

It helps a LOT. And since we've racked up a lot of Reward Dollars, this will be sooo much fun! How long does it take to get your rewards card? A month? Less? Thanks.

Be careful with the Dream reward dollars cards. I tried using one last week at Chester and Heater's a DAK. The girl at the register tried using it- said it didn't work. She got her manager- he tried it- same thing. They tried my partner's card- no luck. Tried mine again- nope. I paid for the $16 pin with disney dollars. Went to store at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Dream reward cards worked. On our last day went to Downtown Disney to use up our remaining Dream Reward card points and found out that each time they tried the cards at Chester and Hester's our cards were debited. Mine- $48, partner's- $16, for a pin I still paid for with "cash". After many phone calls, It is now being resolved, (after leaving WDW) by faxing the only reciept that we were given from C & H's ( they threw away the "ones that didn't work"). So... be careful!

When we go I have Disney Rewards points and Disney Dollars to use on the trip. We set up the room charge with "NO EXPRESS CHECKOUT". The night before we checkout I go to the Main Desk and ask for the room charge. After careful inspection I than use the "Rewards", the "disney dollars" than cash for the rest. This way you don't have to carry anything but your room key and still use the other "money".

As a matter of a fact. . . . . .

Yes Disney dollars are like real dollars but are only spent in disney property or disney stores elsewhere, and your roomkey, unless you dont want it to, is linked to your credit card so u can charge stuff to ur room, which then goes to ur credit card.
