Disney Dollars Question

I'd like to buy my little brother some Disney dollars for his vacation in a couple weeks, but they're really hard to find! I found some on eBay and I just want to double-check with you guys on a couple things before I buy them.

Even though it says DisneyLAND on the back of the dollar bills, they're still usable at Disney World, right? Are they usable EVERYWHERE at the World?

These are them: are these the ones I want?

Yep, I used those earlier this month to buy some pins, and my parents used some to pay for some sit-down restaurants. I usually save mine, but since they had stitch on it I wanted to get rid of them. Also, you may already know this, but you can purchase and use Disney Dollars at any Disney Store.

i have some disney dollars from the 25 anniversary, i never used them... how can i get the actual disney dollars? i mean, those disney dollars that are in the picture

I wouldn't trust, buying disney dollars on E-bay, Someone with a good scanner can just post them.

Try buying them in a Disney Store in the Mall, I just bought $300.00 worth of $10.00 Bills because thats all they got in with the 50th celebration on it.

Just so you know...

The new edition of Disney Dollars are very hard to get at the Disney Stores, I know that most of the stores in my district ran out very fast and were sent older styles to sell.

Can someone explain how these work since I have never used them before? Is like traveller's checks where you can pay for anything at the parks and resorts but can be replaced if you loose them (unlike cash)?

They are basically cheap souveniers. They remind me of the Simpsons episode where they go to "Itchy & Scratchy Land". The ticket seller convinces Homer to buy the Itchy and Scratchy money. When they go inside, all the stores have signs saying they do not accept them.

Anyway, Disney Dollars, are accepted anywhere Disney.

You can purchase them at the Disney Store, WDW, or DL. They work dollar for dollar like cash anywhere at those three locations.

DON'T

I am ridiculously suspicious of anyone selling Disney Dollars on ebay, unless they're either
a: specific hard-to-find types for collectors, who intend to keep them, NOT use them, OR

b: from a seller who has no intention of ever going to a Disney Park OR a Disney Store ever again.

One Disney dollar costs on US dollar, so if you wind up bidding on these on ebay, you might pay more than they're worth. And if you pay less, you run the risk of them NOT being real Disney dollars. You can't tell if they're legit from that picture, but anyone who works for Disney is probably instructed on how to tell REAL DIsney dollars from FAKE Disney dollars. This sounds like someone with a few DDs and a high-res scanner is scamming unsuspecting people. You run the risk of buying something that's fake and worthless, just like people who buy counterfeit tickets to football games & concerts, and you won't know until you try to use them. And if you complain that you bought them from someone on ebay, they're gonna think you're a complete rube.

And even if they ARE real DDs, and you have to bid a higher price than what they're worth to get them, what are you "buying"? Something your little brother is just going to use as cash. If there's no Disney Store around you that has Disney dollars, give him cash or traveler's checks, and you'll both get more for your money.

EDIT

I just went to ebay to look up Disney dollars, and it looks like most of them are being sold by and for collectors (or people who think they are/want to be collectors). Otherwise, whether the bills are legit or not, either way you're getting hosed. I see one guy selling 5 $1 Disney Dollars for 12.50 under the "Buy It Now" option. Are you really gonna spend 12.50 so your brother has 5 dollars to spend? Wouldn't you rather just give him the 12.50? I see $66 in DDs is going for 85 in regular ebay auction. Unless he's a collector, this is ridiculous. I stand by what I said before. Give him the cash or a traveler's check, forget about ebay.

Well said Slappy. I am also really leery of any Disney items ( most others as well) being sold on EBay. I dont have a whole lot of faith in the people or the system over there. I would go with the advice Slappy gave you and either buy them from the Disney Store, give him cash or traveler's checks. Worst case Id check with Disney themselves through the Mail order department and see if they can sell them and ship them to you. The phone number for that is 407-363-6200. I am not 100% sure that they do sell DD but it is worth a shot. Belle

Purely a guess, but I think it was either $300 or $3000. He may have just shoved all his money because he was told how "fun" they were.

We ran out of them within the first week. You would think they would send the new DD to the stores, since more people but them before they go. I also don't understand why they can't send the $5 denomination.
