Disney Dining Plan... Per Day or Per Night?

I stayed recently down in disney world for 8 days, 7 nights. When I booked my trip I was told that I would get one set of meals per night per person. This meant 21-21-21 (there were three os us), and I made all my reservations.

When I arrvied at the hotel (CS) the first thing we did was eat at the pepper market. It cost us one quick service meal per person.

The funny thing is when we were done we had 21 QS meals left. I called the front desk and they said that it was per day not per night. Did they make a boo boo or is it per day?

You pay per night, so the DDP is also calculated per night.

From Disney:

In addition to your Magic Your Way Base Ticket and Disney Resort accommodations, the Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining includes the following, per person for each night of your package stay:
  • 1 Table Service Meal
  • 1 Quick Service Meal
  • 1 Snack

Are you sure they didn't charge the meal to your room by mistake? It's based on a per night basis. If after the meal you still had 21 quick service meals each I would question whether they actually credited the meals to the dining plan or if the CM made a mistake and accidently charged it to your room.

You got lucky. It sucks when you arrive late and have to pay for a full day on the plan.

When you arrive really has very little to do with the plan as the dining plan is based on the number of NIGHTS you are staying, not the number of days.

True, but you are still paying for an extra day full of meals that you have to get creative to use. It happened to us last year. The way we went around it one year was to book just a separate single night, we got in at 9:30pm, then book another X amount of nights. That way we were not paying for the dining plan for the one reservation.
