I believe the offer is good for travel between March 30th and May 13th.

That is a common misperception. In fact, many of the CM's at DRC aren't aware that the DDP plus passholder room only package can be booked through 12/31/08. It is the discounted package that is available through May 21st. Here is JPVondrake's post from March 13th:

First, Annual Passholders can book the Passholder Room + Dining Package for any travel dates from 2/20/08 - 12/31/08. This package includes a Disney Resort Room at regular rack rates plus the Disney Dining Plan for the length of the stay. There is no discount on either the room or dining component. No Magic You Way Ticket purchase is required. If future passholder discount offers are released, you may be able to modify to the discount offer based on availability of the discounted rooms. Remember, holding a room at rack rate does not give you any advantage in obtaining future discount offers.

These new dine package offers follow standard Walt Disney Travel Company Package deposit and cancellation policies., A deposit of $200 is required at the time of booking and the balance due in full 45 days prior to arrival. Change and cancellation fees will apply if they are made anytime within 44 days of arrival. If you have any challenge booking these packages please politely ask for the following package codes:

ADS - Passholder Room + Dining Package
ADT - Passholder Room + Dine and Wine Package
ADU - Passholder Room + Deluxe Dine Package
ADV - Passholder Room + Deluxe Dine and Wine Package

There is currently a passholder discount offer for these packages for travel dates 3/30/08 - 5/21/08, with the discount amount equal to the Passholder Room-only discount offer for the same room and dates. Like any discount offer, the number of rooms available is limited, and once they sell out they are gone.

I don't know if it's just me or what, but I get confused :shrug:so I'm going to ask the experts....my fellow "board members". :)

We're AP holders and are currently holding a room only, rack rate at the Yacht Club for September. If I add dining now and room discounts come up for September and free dining is annouced, then what? Do I get free dining AND a discount on my room??? Sounds too good to be true but I keep thinking that I am missing something..........

Discounts can't be combined. You can get either free dining or a room discount, but not both.

I'm confused. I've gotten the dining plan before with the AP. You could just add it when you booked a room-only reservation. What exactly is new here, a discount for passholders?

Now, you don't have to add the Dining to a package including any MYW tickets (formerly, Dining could only be booked as part of a package including room, DDP, and at least a 1 day MYW ticket). You can just add the Dining to the room only.

Are there different dining plans? We've had APs for 10 years and got the dining plan on our last two trips. We definitely did not buy park passes because we had APs in hand. We just added dining to the room reservation. Or did they just make an exception for us that wasn't widely promoted?

I'd prefer to be able to use my normal AP room discount and get DDP at regular price. Taking away the room discount just to get the DDP seems a bit.... wrong, I guess. Not that we'd use our AP room discount, since we're DVC members. But I'm just sayin'.... :)

Hmmmm... I don't know! This is supposedly a new thing. Maybe you got lucky before. I know in the past, AP holders have really complained about the requirements of adding Dining. Most folks used the 1 day ticket toward remewing their APs.

I think the other thing that isn't spelled out to well here...Is this really a discount on the Dining Plan or is the 30% quoted just part of the marketing for the DDP?

You are only getting a discount on the room (if available). The discount that is mentioned is only meant how much you would save if you did the dp. In the past you would have had to have a 1 day ticket at least to get the dining plan. If you are DVC you have been able to get the dp if staying on points for a while now, so nothing new there.
