Disney Destiny

Personally, we think the Dream is the pinnacle for DCL. We’ll be on the Magic for the first time later this year, and I’m excited to finally sail on it (the walkthroughs I’ve seen make it look great, and it’s been since 2002 since we did the Wonder) but after that I don’t see another Disney cruise on our agenda. Other cruise lines are wanting our business more than DCL.
We've done Magic, Magic, Wonder, and Dream. Our Dream sailing was pretty full, like 3,600 people. And it was a Halloween sailing out of New York so it was full of 1) New Yorkers and 2) "Halloween people," who are not my type of people. We really enjoyed it but thought the ship did a pretty poor job of absorbing that amount of passengers.

I still will never understand the decisions to not have a wrap around walking deck
See and that I think is a failing of even the Dream class. I know it has Deck 4, but we really like the top deck (10) on the Magic and Wonder and being able to walk all the way around in the evenings before and after dinner. You can't do that on the Dream and Fantasy. Deck 12 Forward is cut off by Concierge rooms, so you have to go upstairs to walk around the front of the ship, but Deck 13 Forward is adults-only.

This is a honest question, so please don't think I'm trying to be snarky or Disney-er-than-thou. I'm really not.

What was in the video that makes you say you have no interest? The only real info in the video is that it's a hero/villian theme. Is that in itself enough to make you uninterested in the whole experience? There's a hero/villain theme in nearly EVERY Disney project. So why would it make you uninterested in this particular venue? Or was there something else that I missed that turned you off? Just curious

Snark detected = Zero. ;)

Two things. The first is really a fault of mine - I see that video and instantly I'm filled with dread that they are going to hit you over the head with the whole "heroes and villains theme" at every turn. The second is my absolute disdain for the design of the Wish and "The Disney Destiny, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure" from the announcement here.

The Wish v3 holds no interest for me. Put me on the Dream for a week and I'm the happiest of campers. As mentioned, we'll be on the Magic later this year and I'm very excited to experience the last DCL ship we haven't sailed on.

Fair criticism on Deck 12 on the Dream and Fantasy. At least there is deck 4, whereas the Wish has none of it.

Oof, double whammy on that one. ;)

Jack Skellington was holding court in front of the Walt Disney theater like 10 hours a day and he kept doing this yelping/howling thing that I guess if from the movie, I don't know. It was so grating.

My initial reaction to something "Nightmare Before Christmas"-related for that long:

Forgive my ignorance about DCL but what is the issue with the Wish?

Compared to the previous ships it's a hot mess of a layout. For me personally I do not care for the atrium set-up with the stage vs the big open space. I don't like that the bars/lounges aren't in one "district" and are just kind of scattered. I also don't like that there isn't one deck that has a continuous loop for walking/running.

I DO like that the Wish adult-only area is cut off so there aren't constantly families walking through the area but I also dislike the location of Cove Bar and how it dead-ends by the aquamouse.

So the Treasure is coming late this year and both the Adventure and Destiny are coming in 2025. Blimey I wish Disney moved this fast in the parks

Meh, whatever. With the Magic moving into what looks like semi-retirement status running 25 double dips out of Ft. Lauderdale in 2025, she'll be my choice until she's retired and then I'll begrudgingly have to move up to the Dream and Fantasy.
Just Curious.... Why does running double dips seem like semi-retirement to you?

Also Just curious. Have you been on the fantasy? I find it superior to the Dream.

Curious as well. I did one Disney cruise and was not impressed. Always said, 1 & done. But this intrigues me. However, I don’t feel the video gave me enough information to increase or decrease my interest. Not being snarky, I am genuinely curious if you are just not interested in DCL or something about this concept.
