Disney Dept. 56

I do not collect Department 56, but last year I found and bought some things from the Disney Park Village Series collection.

I bought:

"Mickey's Christmas Carol" Fantasyland

"Disney Park family"

"Olde World Antiques I" Liberty Square

"Olde World Antiques Gate"

"Disneyland Fire Dept. #105"

If any knows anything about this stuff here are a few questions.

Is this series still in production?
If not when and why did they stop making it.

I bought "Olde World Antiques I" - is it possible to by the second one without buying the set? (Evidently they are only sold in a set-which came to news to me since I bought just the first one)

Most importantly - what pieces am I missing to complete the set and are there any other Disney Series in Dept 56?

Thank you to anyone who may be of help.

I do believe that they do not make this any more. You can probably find out information on how much it's worth by checking out kovel's antiques online or go to e-bay and see what it's going for.

I really do not care how much it is worth. I just think it is a great item to display for the holidays. I just wanted to get more items if available.

Sorry, I thought you may want to know it's value.

They really are beautiful pieces. My best friend actually has the complete set.

No reason to say your sorry. In fact I apologize if I came across rude. I appreciate your help.

You should be able to buy olde world 2 without 1. I had a set I sold in a yard sale last year for $20. You will have a hard time finding the rest of the set as it was only made for a few months and then discontinued due to a rights dispute between Dept.56 and Disney. The pieces that are hard to find and expensive are pieces called Tinkerbell's Treasurers, The SWilversmith and the balloon seller. These were all made for only a few months during 1996 and then they went away. Most of the Tinkerbell and Silversmith pieces I have seen on Ebay go for over $200 each. The balloon seller goes for around $60. Good luck finding them (and affording them).

I just went on Ebay and somebody wanted $200 for the whole set. I think I paid close to $200 on just the five pieces I have. Now Tim is in one bad mood.

I think you were mistaken. I think the set you saw was for the origianl set (without Tinkerbell, silversmith or the balloon seller). I searched Ebay and couldn't find the set you were talking about. if the whole set is out ther eofr $200 I'd like to know where so I can pick it up myself.

I have the complete set thanks to my DH, who bought it for me for Bday and Christmas gifts when they first came out. In fact, we drove for 7 hours one way to get Tinks place...that was two states away! WOW, I can't believe you sold yours for $20.00  , wish I was there! I would have loved some back up pieces, just in case... I had heard that Disney pulled the project no long into it because they wanted to market it exclusively...but Dept 56 said NO. It is a shame, this is a great set to have. I am very lucky to have every piece ever made. I will attach some photos of them...if I can' ever figure out how to!

I only sold the olde world antiques building for $20 not the whole set. I still haven't gotten the expensive ones, but someone had bought a few extras for me thinking they were the ones I needed. I decided to purge them before I ended up holding onto them forever.

Dust? I thought that was just a light sprinkling of snow! Very pretty photos. Thank you.
