Disney Credit Card-not Visa

We made reservations today for my husband's annual Dive Quest on our trip in September. When we tried to put the charge on our Disney Credit card, the cast member was questioning it because it is not a Disney Visa card and did not recognize the card. This has now become a recurring problem as it happened in February when we checked in to POR with the Disney Visa coming into question. A few questions...am I the only one who has this card because it seems like it is being phased out with the Disney Visa? And...why would Disney not want to take the card when Disney is the only place I can use it and they issued it to me? The cast member eventually consults a manager to verify these cards exist and what type of transaction to use in their system, but you have still suffered the embarrassment of being questioned to the legitimacy of the card. I have had the thing for over 10 years and have not had the problem until the Disney Visa came out. Anyone else own one of these cards?

I have a Disney credit card as well, but I haven't used it in a while. I do believe I used it since the Disney Visa came out, but I put most charges on the new Visa card.

Hey, hold onto that card. If they do phase out the Disney credit card, like many other things that Disney discontinues, it will be vintage and worth something someday

I have the card also and I've never had a problem with it. Although last time I was in the parks was last year when the visa was still fairly new. Hopefully it won't be too much trouble to use it, but I guess I shall find out this week.

Let me know when you return if you had any trouble. The castmember checking us in at POR looked at it as if it were something she had never seen and she even said that.

By the way, I messaged you earlier about Junior's accident today.

Will do.

I did see the message and I tried to send a reply. I'm not the brightest when it comes to computers though so I may have done it wrong. I just hit reply from my e-mail. If it didn't go through let me know and I can try to send it again.

The Disney Credit Card is being phased out with the Disney Visa from what I understand. My last time I was at WDW, one of my friends paid for their food at the Garden Grille and when they got their receipt to sign, they also were given a Disney Visa app.

Why not replace the Disney Credit card automatically with a Disney Visa for all card holders?

That's what target did and I think it would be great if Disney did the same. I applied for a disney visa and was declined because I didn't make enough money. I do have a bank one card so it seems funny that they wouldn't give me a disney one (which I applied for first) since the disney visa is bank one. Does this mean that I'm just SOL when the disney card gets phased out?

eh.. no Disney Visa for me. I'll keep my Citi Mastercard, Amex Corporate, and Wamu/Citi Check Cards. All the spending power I'll ever need :D

Oh, but just think of how many Disney points you could earn if you transferred those balances and used only that one? :fork:

The "old" Disney Credit Card was bad. The "new" Disney Visa is bad too IMO (although I have one, but have never used it). Master Card is bigger and better and gives more cash back!

If I could, I'd get the Disney visa and replace my universal mastercard (which I only got for the free coupons to be used in the park once when I was visiting). I'd much rather earn disney points than universal points.

eh... no thanks. My current card setup has yet to fail me. All balances are paid off monthly (if I even use the cards that month!), so the Disney Visa has nothing more to offer me than a $25 watch, and more Magic in my Wallet. Generally, the only card I even take with me on a daily basis anymore is my Wamu Check Card. The Amex is used only when I travel, since it seems to get me some nice benefits, and the MC is for emergencies. I won't even start on my Citi check card.

Different banks. The Disney Credit card stopped the applications 2 months before the Disney Visa card came out. Disney's contract ended with one bank and decided that an affinity with Bank 1 would be better for them. Bank 1 pays the advertising for the cards and Disney kicks in some little rewards.

If the Disney card has an expiration date, don't be surprised if the card won't re-new.

My Disney credit card does not have an expiration date. When I went to Disneyland last Jan. they had some difficulties with the card. The cast member didn't know what to do. When she consulted to different managers they found out that they have to put TDC somewhere in the computer where they put what kind of credit card is being used. They found this out only by calling the Disney credit card people.

Amazing. I think alot of people switched over to the Disney Visa when it was introduced to have "Charter Member" or "Member Since Day 1" printed on the card.

I'm just jealous! I wasn't able to get a Disney Card when they were offered and Bank 1 told me I have too many credit cards whenever I apply for the Disney Visa.

I didn't switch over since this is my first credit card. But I got it for the reason that I wanted to be a Charter Cardmember and Member Since: Day 1. That is one thing I will always have in my wallet so the magic stays with me no matter where I am. Also, for the Disney Visa cardholders, I have a question, I don't want to start a new thread, but does anyone know if items purchased at WDW are double points? I remember reading in my letters that Disney purchases are worth double the points, but does that include park merchandise. If so, are there any exclusions from there, such as items bought from the countries in EPCOT or anything else?

Does anyone have the website for the old disney credit card. It use to be www.disneycreditcard.com but not that redirects you to the visa one. I was trying to check my balance online but I can't figure out the new site? can anyone help?

Thanks for the great news. :( This card just keeps getting better and better. It is totally being handled wrong by the company. I do not like being forced to take out a Visa if I do not want to.
