so there was no excuse not to vote.
I didn't vote, but that's because I'm not a member and probably never will be. I don't feel that paying $5 or more a week does not justify the benefits I get. The union will still fight for me in a contract violation so I don't see the point.

that's certainly your prerogative so long as you are fine with not complaining about your compensation as a CM.

Good news....Unions have screwed enough companies up in the country..Glad they didnt mess up Disney. Ive always felt.."If you arent making enough money where you work now...Get a better job", Its as simple as that. Americans have done it since "Manifest Destiny".
The Unions tried to kill Disney in '41 when the Commies infiltrated the organization. It all worked out though in the end, Walt testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee, read off some names, and made some accusations about the Screen Actors Guild. In the end, the studio was never the same as it had been and neither was Walt.

Actually, I have every right to. It's not the union's job to offer me fair compensation, it's the Company. The union is supposed to fight for my fair compensation whether I am a member or not. And until MY union actually fights and doesn't fold under the pressure, I will remain a non-member.

and who, may I ask, would you complain to? People like us who can't change anything. Sounds productive. If a company offers you a vehicle to voice your concerns and you choose not to use it, then you should file your complaints over compensation in the form of a resume that you would send for employment somewhere that will treat you better. The world has never truly cared about what one person thinks, and neither does a company with 55000+ employees.

Most unions dont care about their members either. They only care about the union leaders salaries.

The union is not a vehicle for me to voice my concerns. They are there to uphold the contract. I already filled out some survey thing last year saying what I wanted and - lo and behold - it was the same as everyone else. They were supposed to fight for a new and better contract and they most likely failed. I have already voiced my concerns to the appropriate people, my managers, who then told be to whom I could better direct my comments and it was NOT the union. Not like that would do anything anyway as proved by the last contract that was voted on. If I was the only person who thought this way, then I would probably move on and forget it, but I highly doubt I'm the only one in this case.

Honestly, I don't know WHAT contract was approved since all I got in my area was a "here's a general overview of what you're voting on with no specifics" flyer. For all I know we could have $5/hr raises, but the common cast member wouldn't know that. Poor communication between them and the people they represent. The union that represents my line of business sucks. As Tom stated above, they just care about their salaries and that the union doesn't go on strike since that would cost them more money. Guess they won on that count!

Is this from any sort of factual arguement or are you just making statements out of the air? Thats a really unfair statement.

This was actually one union boss who at the time was controlling the orginizing process. Walt wanted a fair vote for which union would represent the members of the studio. This union boss cohorsed a battle that should have never been fought. Corruption is everywhere and in this case it did tear the studio apart.
