I am very curious to learn the specifics of this service. How does this integrate with the current transportation options? Example: where would it drop one off to at the Magic Kingdom?

Could this service also be in response to some of the negative press that Uber suffers from, such as drivers not speaking english, and several incidents of violence.

as some people would much rather be driven around by a disney employee than a random uber driver that the people of uber have never actually meet in person for any sort of training or quality control

No, it's a way to have a piece of the ride sharing pie, from which they currently have no revenue. People in 2017 want on-demand transportation.

While the name is cute, must everything be catered to children now? It'd be one thing if they kept the name but made the cars sleek and memorable, but climbing into that polka dotted thing is just embarrassing, especially without a little child. I'd take Uber just to avoid getting in that.

Only a matter of time now before UBER and Lyft are banned from WDW property and Disney has every right to do so as it's private property.

That's not going to happen. Many people take Uber from the airport, to/from Universal, to dinners, grocery shopping, etc. It's not clear how far the Disney service will take you but I'm guessing not the Distance many people want Uber for.

Don't be so negative. This is a very fun convenience added to the parks, and I've personally never had any problems with the bus system. It's one of the things I LOVE about Disney World.
Says the poster that still posts about negative stuff. You are starting to come across as passive aggressive.

:hilarious: :hilarious: lol...While I could see how its embarrassing if you were anywhere else in the country, but once you get to WDW you wont care once you look around and see everyone else.

They will have enough vehicles, and will offer a superior service to Uber. Plenty of people will be willing to pay $20 for the convenience.

I am slow to think it will be superior. Uber rides often include free services like wifi , drinks, etc. there really is only a negative in having to know where the pickup points are at different locations

This creates a self-serving excuse not to improve buses. When will Minnie van be most popular? When buses are most crowded... one drives revenue... the other does not.

The last thing Disney needs is pumping hundreds of more car around. I think this is a sign of Disney throwing up its hands and chasing dollars instead of guest satisfaction.

Maybe I'm missing something but unless it can go off property (not counting the airport which they apparently will also do?) I still don't really see the point of this service between all the other transportation options. I guess maybe during particularly crowded times of year it'll be useful but for the most part seems unnecessary.

People who don't want to drive in Orlando and don't want to use Uber/Lyft to have that experience.

Guest satisfaction has not been on Disneys radar since the introduction of MM+ this is just another way of boosting. PRGS but now Disney has no incentives to improve the Bus experience

Yup Disney is giving them the finger as well

Uber works because it has a database of all active drivers in an area and when a request comes in its sent to the closest available drivers who can choose to pick up the fare, fare and driver are TRACKED to destination. And pricing is predictable at time of call and you know exactly when to expect a uber driver

Compare that to a cab company cars sit in central pools, dispatch is by radio/phone and tracking is non existant and pricing can be manipulated by driver using the scenic route

All Disney needed to do was to adopt one of the GPS enabled dispatching systems and provide an app. They could have sold access to local taxi firms

ideally this would drop you off at the gate maybe use one of the bus loops, versus where the ubers drop off that then requires a monorail or ferry.

that would give the Minnie vans a competitive advantage over Uber

Forgive me if this has already been answered but will these be accessible for wheelchairs and ECVs?
only if the wheelchairs or ecv's "fold up" to fit in the "truck area" though would suck to be a driver and have to load those in and out
