Disney Considering A Pirates Resort.

Is there a way to click on something to read about each of these possibilities?

When I clicked on your link, all I got was a page with different ideas, including the Pirate Themed resort, but I saw now way of clicking on any of them to read about the idea in more detail. :brick:

Sorry...I forgot to add another link. The other link is from the Wall Street Journal.

They are not seriously considering this idea. Disney is just re-inforcing the notion to shareholders that they are still riding the PoTC craze as hard as they can. In the WDW Vacation DVD they mentioned Jack Sparrow as the main character of the PoTC magic kingdom ride, considering jack sparrow has never been a part of the ride, only the movie. Disney wants to milk this PoTC movie craze for as long as they can.

There are definitely three Jack Sparrow AA's in PotC. I wouldn't call him the "main character" of the ride, but he's in there.

He became the main character of the ride. The whole thing practically revolves around him now.

I am not trying to be mean, but this was not worth the thread. It will not happen. They have a Caribbean beach resort and if they wanted to i am sure they could change it easily, but it won't happen. I am honestly not trying to be mean i just think you could have placed this elsewhere and you didn't need to post it in both rumors and WDW discussions.

From the article, it looks like the PoTC themed resort would be an independent stand alone resort elsewhere in the country...unfortunately. I personally hoped that it would be a new WDW resort hotel...if it ever makes it off the drawing board.

Well, if it's not worth the thread than why reply? Not trying to be mean, but pointing out the irony in your post.

I think the idea is neat of various resorts around the world but I think they are seriously going into overkill with the Pirate themes. What happens in ten years when people have forgotten about the Pirate movies?

And I have to agree, I think Jack IS the main character now. The ride DOES revolve around him. Listen to the questions that are asked when they are dunking the man in the well. They are no longer asking where the treasure is, they are asking where Jack Sparrow is. And then the ride ends with Jack.

Point is I think they are going to kill the Pirate love faster than they realize.

I could see it being a Vegas resort.

I wonder if it's just a subset of us that notices this? I've been here for 5 days on business (OMG - how do people deal with the parks in the summer?) and I've REALLY had about as much pirate influence as I can stand. And I didn't even go into the parks! A whole room dedicated to pirates at Downtown and they still had to have the crap everywhere else in the store too? Overkill anone? I won't even get into the whole Stitch-pirate merge thing . . .

But that's us. For Joe Blow who might visit 4-5 days every three to six years, they either think it's cool and don't even bother to notice at all. Heck, they might be inclined to really like pirate theming if for no other reason than to appeal to boys to counteract the whole girl/princess thing.

I was just talking with an associate of mine were I work, who has a daughter who works somewhere in the WDW resort. He told me he was sent a letter some time ago from Disney asking him if he would be interested in staying at a pirate themed resort, since he goes to WDW every year. He sent the letter back saying that he would be. He told me yesterday that he has confirmed reservation to stay at the new "Pirate" resort in 2009 when it opens. I don't know how much of this is fact or fiction, I only know what he told me and he seemed very sincere. He couldn't give me any other information other than it was being built on one of the WDW islands somewhere. Just thought I'd pass it along for anyone interested.

I asked him to provide me with some solid proof of his claim, by showing me his letter and anything else he could provide. He said he would, if he comes through I'll post it.

IF they were to build this resort it could be one of two thing Either a PoTC resort which may not stand the test of time, or they could build a Pirate influenced resort with no direct tie in to the movies/ride, which imho would be the way to go because peoples fascination with pirates have been around for ever and don't see that changing anytime soon
