News Disney Confirms Muppets Take Over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios

I agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your ideas, EXCEPT I hope they replace the “pretend this obvious track doesn’t exist and this obvious roller coaster train is a car pulling up” and “pretend these flat cartoon images are Los Angeles” with something more immersive. They recognized this issue and fixed it in the WDSP version by “auto-theming” it as a roller coaster co-designed by the band—and with a pretty cool light show customized to each song in place of the flats. (Auto-theming is not an optimal solution, to be sure, but IMHO a step up from the cartoon flats and such.)

Even if they don’t fix this, however, I suppose it’ll be less egregious because having the Muppets involved will set us up not to expect something “believable.”

See, and I HATED the WDSP version because it was just a coaster with lights. Which many other parks have done, some even better. So, sadly a matter of different perspectives. Haha

I do agree more immersive would be nice. The problem is the physical layout. You are working with a very small space. So, if you want any sense of journey, you're basically limited to the flats. I do think they could do something more. But things like lights and screens can flood the space with light pretty easily, ruining the effect. Add the speed of a coaster vs a dark ride, and they have (literally) stuck themselves in a box.

Interesting take on the WDSP version. And as you say, given this coaster’s layout, it’s hard to imagine what other options they have. I guess maybe splitting up the space with tunnels/dividers might allow for a better light show?

Do any insiders have an idea of the current/proposed budget for this project? That might give us a better idea of the possibilities…

I think if you're complaining here you need to take a second and realize the fact that we still get a muppet attraction at all and arguably an even bigger attraction than what they currently have is something really positive. It effectively kills two birds with one stone, allowing a new land for a beloved IP and still keeping the muppets around when they VERY easily could've just closed muppets 3D and not brought them back in any form whatsoever. As long as the overlay is good and I don't see why it wouldn't be at this point knowing how much they'll have to do with it, it will undoubtedly be more popular and relevant than a decades-old theatre screen show.
I doubt if a whole new land is coming in. Disney is famous for announcing and then back peddling.

Is it? It has random scenes that could be OT, prequel or sequel. If attached to GE, the scenes would be sequel only. I like its separation as an indepedent SW attraction and not shoehorned into the GE theme.
The "timeline" is SWGE's biggest issue.. Get rid of the timeline, introduce more classic & post timeline characters & just make it fun. That's what Star Wars fans ACTUALLY want.

Lets hope that this has actual muppet theming on the “muppetvision” level. Not on the “pizzerizzo” level. Maybe if this overlay is successful, some of those “concepts” Len Mentioned could come to life. Maybe another retheme? We never did find out what that third attraction on the chopping block that Steve mentioned before d23 Brazil was…
(If that information is still accurate. I’m guessing 1 & 2 were MV3D and Aerosmith)

Better yet, old school Star Wars muppets ride! Muppets take over star tours? Or more muppets taking over other things? Yes!
I doubt Muppets get anything else in DHS unless it’s near RnRC. Let’s not spread IPs out in that park any more than they already are.

I would be very down for Muppets in the other parks though…maybe a return of Great Moments in History in MK. Or a new film in the Magic Eye at EPCOT (assuming Inside Out goes to Wonders of Life).

So then, you see it as a win, because Monsters has a theater planned. Honestly, I was in your boat until I saw they were doing a theater too. Full disclosure the articles I had seen did not mention the theater, so I'm assuming you are in the same spot I was. Now, it feels like it was a throw in for this very reason, but it was thrown in, so assuming it goes through, I don't see any way that can be your complaint here. Now, I have complaints about us just being net 1 attraction up in a park that has been stagnate in attraction numbers for like 1.5 decades (and I still don't like losing muppets when there are empty dead ends of the park), but it's still a net gain. Nothing was lost in terms of types of attractions.
I agree that if there is a continuous show like Muppets then there’s no loss in terms of accessible attractions. I’m hoping they don’t cut it. Another stage show would be a bust, HS has enough of those. I still wish if were net gains for accessible shows.

The only thing that comes to mind with this is hearing Ms. Piggy scream "Oh Kermieeeeee!" while you're turning upside down at 40mph, lol.

With the closure early this year, was RNRC retracked? I know from the Flight Force overlay at WDS, the coaster wasn't retracked and it is still rough
