Look, I get that things become dated and I get the eternal "Walt Disney World is not a museum" trope. I know things have to change. But that doesn't mean that you toss out everything that is old or that you keep nothing for the sake of nostalgia.

The Muppets are something that loads of people, myself included, have an emotional connection to. They're a part of American culture. And MuppetVision 3D was the last Muppets project that Jim Henson did. I can understand not needing to have an entire Muppets Courtyard section of a theme park today, but surely they could find some place to stick this attraction. I believe it still has value.

Besides, if you got rid of the Muppets entirely, then @Magenta Panther's entire reason for being on these boards would cease to exist. I'd hate to deprive him of that.

plus, If you get rid of too many things, you'll discourage a lot of people from revisiting. Half of my favorite rides have been gutted/going to be gutted, so I don't see as much of a reason to come back to Disney in contrast to 2017 because a lot of the reasons I went are gone now.

Change is not some kind of inherently good virtue and insisting on it without logic isn't either. Throwing away high quality attractions is stupid and doesn't stop being so just because they're old.

And the constant dismissal of everything old as just "nostalgia" is also bad. No, sometimes things are just genuinely good and deserve to be fondly remembered for being just as enjoyable today as the first time you watched it. Sometimes things are just genuinely good and continue to make new fans over the years.

I'm not even a Muppet fan and Muppet Vision is easily my favorite thing in Studios. I didn't need to watch it as a kid to find it hilarious.

I don’t understand why some of yall obsess over him. Our sources have been wrong before. Heck, Steve initially said it was going in Animation and changed once he heard otherwise. Plans change and obviously Tom’s source had info that changed.

I know plans change. But Tom has been hardcore shilling of late. I just think its funny that the kid that doesn't shill for Disney (although he stayed away from giving any strong opinion on TBA which is smart) had access to correct info

This particular project was revealed in a very messy way with false rumors released for some reason. I do get the impression that the uproar over MV3D led to the delayed announcement to allow Muppets to move to RnRC, create a new MI show, and push the new coaster further back (thus the more recent height test). The concept is better now than the original Muppet Courtyard proposal.

Now the question is: why the Mermaid delay?

The other real question is what do they mean by “discussing preserving the show?” That could mean many things.

Like a lot of posters I am sad to see MV3D going away. It was always something I enjoyed doing, but I think the average fan mostly skipped over this ride so I am not entirely surprised it is going away either.

My main exposure to the Muppets were from my parents and that 2011 movie + sequel.
Same thing with Aerosmith, mainly from my dad, though I am less sad about Aerosmith being removed and more excited/curious to see what happens with the Muppets there.

I do hope they find the best way to preserve the film and display it for those interested. Maybe have it be a rotation within One Man's Dream, since that seems to be a less popular spot nowadays.

I wonder if it's due to the state of the theater being closed since 2020 causing more work to be done? That or they'll want to market Summer 2025 like they did this year with Encanto @ Epcot/Disney Springs Drones/Tiana's this year. Summer 2025 can now be for Test Track refurb, Little Mermaid, Villains & Disney Starlight.
... Of course, 2025 is slowly becoming "The Year of Million Farewells" (I think we're at a 8 attraction closures if RNRC & Muppet Vision close in 2025)

My guess it is to group everything together they can thats “new” for next summer for marketing reasons to give some extra reasons to go to Disney when Epic opens. Obviously these thing are not the answer to Epic but to get as much overflow business they can from the large numbers of people expected. They’ve already publicly stated that the second half of next years sales are trending higher. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it is because Epic is opening and more people are planning to visit Orlando. Little Mermaid will be one more thing they can promote.
