Looking for some silver lining... if the toonifcation of Epcot IS successful the likelyhood that "Inside Out!" will find a home in the Wonders of Life pavillion seems more plausable err, palatable.

An optimistic fan will say that there is more to this than a simple overlay like the Christmas Jungle Cruise thing. In another thread someone posted the pessimistic view that they will leave the ride vacant for a year to save overhead costs and then do a quick overlay.

I'm leaning slightly optimistic. There has to be some meat to this thing. I'm not expecting an expansion of the show building - which they have room for. At least the rumored move to 1 load/unload to add another show scene. The current ride is short. Frozen has a few pretty popular songs and based on Stagg's comments in the park blog the ride will tell the story of the movie. I'm skeptical they can do that well in 4 minutes. Maybe they can slow the boats down;)
Yet another reason this doesn't make sense at all. The ride as it exists isn't big enough to do any kind of justice. It's going to be a jumbled mess. I would really like to see how they're going to make the backwards portion make sense. This idea is just horrible from start to finish.

Still don't see your logic since we've most likely spent more money than any of these once in a lifers or tourists over the years. Keep the longtime fans happy and returning and the tourists will still come.

If you still don't understand such a simple concept then I'm not sure it's worth the effort of explaining it to you.

I'm sure you have spent more money than most. But there are still far (millions) more of them than there are of you.

So they should just burn a bridge with their lifelong fans in favor of the millions of tourists? What will happen then, should less tourists ever come? Who will be there to fall back on?

If disney ever had to fall back on it's hardcore fans. They would be bankrupt within months. They have to cater to the majority.

Disney doesn't care about their fans. There will always people people to replace them. The new fans will accept the mediocre Disney and think it is great while the old fans wish they had the old Disney back, the Disney which held itself to higher standards, not lowering itself to the drones, to the lowest common denominator of human. Disney does not want the smart fan anymore. They want the face in the smartphone, cannot spell cause HEY WE HAVE SPELL CHECK fan. The little things? Who needs them? People want to stare mindlessly at their smartphone or tablet.

The little things, the attention to detail made Disney Disney. And that's going by the wayside. And getting defended.

Then if there is such a need to cater, provide a true attraction. Not an overlay based upon a specious connection....

I never said world showcase was the best place for a frozen attraction. It could be so much better in several other locations. Regardless it will be popular and successful even if it's not what it could or should be.

You still keep repeating that as of they are in constant opposition. There is no long-term business in dismissing your "average" guest as ignorant and uncaring.

And they are not. They are giving their "average" guest exactly what they want.

I have to wonder what people on here would say if they announced they were building a ride full of fictional animated characters set in the south to a land themed to the American old west.

I don't know if this has been said but I'd much rather DHS got a Frozen attraction than overhauling yet another World Showcase pavillion for a IP. As much as Epcot needs new attractions and reopening of pavillions long since shuttered to be used as party rooms, it just seems misplaced to me. Especially since that whole ice rink in the summer was in DHS under the Frozen theme, it just would make more sense to distribute crowds better to DHS and at least make the attempt to make it more than a 1/2 day park.

There are 2 issues here. I'm not a fan of replacing Maelstrom with Frozen. I'm actually less of a fan of cramming Frozen into the Maelstrom show building. Donald Duck invaded Mexico years ago so the bubble was burst on world showcase's purity. I could live with it I guess.

The bigger issue to me is that Frozen deserves a bigger presence in WDW. Without expanding the show building there is no way they can do the movie justice. If you think people complain about LM's story telling, this could be worse. I hold out a small hope that they somehow expand the ride layout and double it's size. An 8 to 10 min boat ride with good AAs and a coherent story could actually be elevated to an E-ticket. Long shot for sure, but possible.

Too much optimism and pixie dust for this thread?

The average guest is not a creative whose job is to think up new thinks people did not know they wanted. That's the whole point of being a creative enterprise, creating.

The Splash Mountain thing has been tried.

Well, I disagree. I ride Maelstrom every time I visit Epcot and consider it a must-do. Sad I won't be able to ride it again before it closes.

Same here. It was no Pirates or Haunted Mansion, but it had real atmosphere and an eerie magic all its own. How pathetically and typically CHEAP of TDO to simply paste over an existing (and popular) ride instead of building a whole new attraction. All the suits at Disney care about is their bonuses and golden parachutes. Disgusting.
