Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

Yes. That country is Denmark.

Chalk up another "rewrite" for Disney because the opening song was arranged by a Norwegian of a Danish song written by a Danish composer and could be linked with a DANISH fairy tale written by a Dane.

<sarcasm> Yep, that's some solid reasoning to revamp a classic ride right there. </sarcasm>

And for centuries (including the near history around HC Andersen) Norway was part of Denmark. The separation of Danish vs Norwegian is splitting hairs in this case.... nevermind the story (even in the original) does not take place only in Denmark.. but actually set so the snow queen's palace is in the cold north.

It's not a norweigan folk tale explicitly.. but is not isolated from norway either.

Another thought.

So Disney is clearly banking on all the Frozen fans to drown out the complainers like us. But unless this project is far bigger in scope than we assume, there's no way the Maelstrom ride and building can ever live up to the expectations of the Frozen fans, and they, too, will be disappointed.

By 2016 Frozen will be yesterdays news, so there's no worry of crowds being the kind of levels they would be if it opened today. A few years ago High School Musical was the big obsession, but I doubt a High School Musical show would get more than a passing interest today.

DON'T give them ideas!

Instead of "World Showcase" we'll have "DisneyWorld Showcase"

With each pavilion linking to a major movie instead of a cultural experience.
They seem to be going that way without my help :(
I still wonder why the hell they do not hire a REAL theme park expert as the boss of WDW and Parks division, than just stay with a nutjob who can only count wads of money?

It doesn't matter anyway, I suppose. Frozen is not the story of the Snow Queen, not by a long shot.

It's a story about bad parenting, annoying tropes, and two silly teenage coming of age plots thrown in just for fun.

All tied together with some of the best visuals Disney Animation has done in a while, and a catchy (but not fantastic) score.

Money is the point system for REAL theme park experts, I hate to say...

(no, I really don't, I can gripe about these things, but I understand them)

I wonder how much backlash they are actually seeing, or if they are paying someone to run the social media and delete/block any negative opinions of this decision.

It was interesting to note that on Friday most comments on the blog were positive, but over the weekend - when people in PR companies normally don't work - they got very negative. Funny that.

If everything is suddenly roses again tomorrow, it will be clear how much interference is going on.

The same goes for Harry Potter. It's been a few years since a movie or book came out. If High School Musical isn't popular anymore what chance does Potter have. It won't draw big crowds:rolleyes:

If you prefer a Disney example replace Potter with Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast. 25 years later, still drawing lines. 7 dwarfs are what 75 years old;)
