Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

Yes, Disney has said that a Ride about Frozen will feature the characters of Frozen and some of the music of Frozen. It wouldn't be a ride based on Frozen if it didn't. That doesn't mean it can't at the same time show what makes Norway a beautiful land and integrate aspects of Norwegian culture into other areas of the attraction. We just don't know yet.
Oh, but if we look at their track record, we do.

I really don't see how there can be anything cultural in this new ride when there's nothing cultural in Frozen, safe for aesthetics.

It's Nemo in the Seas all over again. There's nothing there, either, that ties it to the future and the wider theme of the park. WS with an animated feature ride in it will suffer the same thematic rift.

I appreciate that you're still optimistic... but... I just don't see it having any semblance of culture to it. It's all fantasy, all elsa, all the time.
BTW i keep saying it, I'll say it again....ITS ONLY DISNEY FOLKS. aint nobody curing cancer, creating world peace or getting adopted by Angelina & Brad...ITS JUST DISNEY ...lighten up!!!! and mind the energy u bring in the forums...so over the bleak negativity in here

It comes down to the fact that its a slippery slope. The vague connections people and Disney use to justify Frozen/Norway could be applied in the same manor to any movie/attraction. This Frozen overlay will be embraced thus allowing any aspect of the parks to become a target for a budget friendly overlay/remake when the next hit movie comes along.
Exactly. This is a big blow for World Showcase's coherency. ANYTHING could be placed ANYWHERE after this. Gross.

It is my sincere hope that the new building is an architectural fit and extension of the original Norway pavilion. I do not want to see a forced-perspective ice castle situated between Mexico's Mayan temple and China's Temple of Heaven.

I think it would be cool if you couldn't see any building at all, just rock work, trees and landscaping to hide the show building.

Speaking of fictional empires, you just made me wish Atlantis did better way back when. We could have had it all: Fire Mountain in Magic Kingdom, Atlantis Subs at Disneyland, a really cool in-house Sci-Fi IP, a TV show with a crossover with Gargoyles and more Mignola designed monsters, turbonerds speaking Atlantean at conventions...

Unfortunately Atlantis was more or less Stargate Without Aliens.

So there is nothing in your life that you are so passionate about that you would speak out against it if it stopped living up to your expectations?
i always embrace change in life. Most humans don't like change in their lives... So I totally get it! But change is the one constant thing in life.... I'm a dancer choreographer, very passionate about that. It changes all the time..... But I love the constant change. Keeps me on my toes, relevant and young/youthful! And BTW I got love for all y'all om here!

Norway is perhaps the most abused area in WDW. The first black eye came when the converted Akershus - once a very good Norwegian restaurant and a personal favorite - into princess cattle call dining. The second black eye came when they installed Frozen stuff in the Stave Church. The Maelstrom debacle is the final kick in the balls that will bring it to it's cultural knees. But I guess it will make a lot of 10 year old girls happy...

That's how I feel. I don't hate the princesses and understand why they are there. But I would prefer the pavilions to be sold on their own merits. A character here and there is fine. Full on characterfying the place is a little much. I think of China and Morocco and how even though Mulan and Aladdin are there, there is not a bulk (if any) merchandise crowding the place. The museum in Morocco is not Aladdin themed. But Norway is just a mess right now. I have no interest in going there when I arrive for Easter.

Trying to keep my posts to 1 paragraph at a time. I have so much to say I could write a novel, lol

I actually didn't have a problem with the Frozen stuff in the Stave Church since I think it was handled appropriately. It was very clearly showing how the real Norway influenced specific elements of the world of Frozen.

This is where my second paragraph was going to go, haha

I also didn't mind the Stave Church update because it merged the real artifacts with how they inspired the movie. Though I wasn't a big fan of the film, it was nice to see. And I think the museums should update every few years. I don't think it should STAY Frozen, but it was one of the few updates I didn't horribly mind. I would like them to update it again soon with other Norwegian artifacts and information.

sorry if this has been said previously in here.

remember how we all kept wishing that Disney would fill in some of the gaps between existing countries in the World Showcare with new countries? Be careful of what you wish for, you just might get it. The newest country: Arendelle.

Not all change is good, and not all change should be embraced.
