Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

I still can't believe we got Under New Management evicted by act of tiki god.

OK point taken:p. Every now and the a diety does help out. But they were destructive in their help. Thor would just destroy the buildings.

Oh Mike..... off. But y'all are providing good entertainment whining about something you cannot change like a bunch of toddlers being told they cannot have cookies before dinner.

But it really wasn't. As I said in an above post, despite the characters being tossed in, Gran Fiesta Tour didn't change drastically from El Rio del Tiempo. The ride didn't become a ride through the Three Cabelleros animated movie. You still took a boat ride through Mexico. You still got to see REAL Mexican landscapes. You still saw REAL Mexican culture in those screen shots. And the show scenes with the AA's depicts Mexican culture/heritage. WDI didn't just do a retelling of Three Cabelleros. Frozen in Maelstrom will NOT be depicting REAL landscapes in a REAL country. Thus, Frozen truly compromises what World Showcase was meant to be.
The rest of the pavilion also remained. That will not be the case in the Norway Pavilion where only the snack counter has a chance at remaining.

What point are those pictures supposed to prove? WS has some of the best themed shops in all of WDW. And... Who said it wasn't supposed to have shopping?
Apparently people don't eat and shop when visiting other countries. Somebody should tell all of the international tourists that load up on stuff at the Premium Outlet Malls on Vineland and I-Drive.

WS has been portrayed on this thread a number of times by a number of poster as some sort of educational area that was going to be ruined/compromised/destroyed etc by bringing Olaf and friends in. That bringing Frozen in was a insult to Norwegian culture and it's people, go back and read as many pages as you want. You will see a ton of examples of just that.

My view is that is not an accurate picture of what WS is and thus Olaf is not compromising or destroying anything with his frosty presence.
You are the one who keeps saying a theme park cannot be educational. But how are you any sort of authority on the matter? You have said you do not know or care. How can someone who does not know or care continue to declare what something is or is not?

And, again, as many love to point out, Wonders of Life sits like a decaying carcass ever since MetLife left.
And Space Mountain didn't close when RCA left. There is no law saying that Pavilions must be sponsored.

Sooo, any word on what the new Frozen pavilion will look like?

Here's my idea for the Frozen bypass. Maybe even fill it in for more prime Illuminations viewing and additional Drunkytown space.

I just have to laugh at Mitsukoshi being used as an example that World Showcase is just some silly nonsense. The Company dates back some 400 years and their flagship store in Tokyo is a dazzling spectacle in its own right. It's two buildings one five stories and other seven stories. The second building has a floor dedicated just to women's shoes. There is a floor loaded with books, manga and toys. The basement complex is full of small stalls selling food and there are several restaurants throughout the two building complex.

That and the Orange Bird figurine in Sunshine Tree are pretty much the only fan prayers that have been answered in the last few years aren't they? Be grateful for small things, I know, but I think we'd trade it all in for a decent Imagination refresh.

Like I said, to me it's a giant very well executed retailtainment area. Lots of shopping and eating going on, and rightfully so IMO. Lord knows I partake in enough of it when I am there :)

If your point was to prove people wrong, you failed. ONe thing I don't notice in any of those picture... DISNEY CHARACTERS. One thing you fail to grasp, the shops in each pavilion sells products of THAT COUNTRY. Tell me, Olaf plushes represent Norway or do they represent Frozen? I can answer that for ya since you'll answer wrong anyway. Olaf plushes, Anna and Elsa costumes represent FROZEN. When the new merchandise store opens, it won't be Norwegian products being sold. It will be Frozen merchandise. The pictures you post actually damages your argument and makes you defenders look all the more ignorant.

Oh and you also trying to say SEE THE SHOPS KILL THE PAVILION. Did you not read my post a few pages back were, THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY specifically states part of the World Showcase experience for guests would be.. SHOPPING? The difference is, again, the shops in every other country sells good which represent that country. The shop in Arendelle, I mean Norway, will feature products from an American animated movie and NOT products from or representing NORWAY.

There is a difference between DISNEY CANNOT SURVIVE WITHOUT SPONSORS, JUST LOOK AT WONDERS OF LIFE and WELL DISNEY CAN DO JUST FINE WITHOUT THEM BUT CHOOSE TO BE CHEAP GREEDY BASTARDS.... You honestly think the billion dollar making WDW cannot run an attraction without a sponsor? You're fooling yourself.

Oh and perfect example of a messed up attraction WITH A SPONSOR: Spaceship Earth. Oh, remember when Kodak sponsored Imagination and we got the piece of horse turd which sits there now? Yep... messes made with sponsorship money.

Check the Pokemon in Japan, along with all the toys from Japanese anime. Heck the one area in Japan set aside that is not selling crap is full of pictures of animated characters....

I though I saw Donald in Mexico, must have been some other duck...

Those lines in WS in the pavilions, they are to do M&G with "toons", that is what the guests want it seems. Toons all over WS everyday, is Olaf going to tip the balance somehow in your view?

And the plastic fake viking horns and swords in Norway you can buy right now, made in China.

A lot of the stuff sold in Japan, made in China. I know a lot of the toys are, and they sell a ton of toys in Japan.

The shirt I bought my son in Mexico last june, made in Indonesia. Like I posted earlier, it say "I Taco Mexico" with the word Taco being replaced with a picture of a taco. Hardly a cultural piece of Mexican art. Nor were the shot glasses they were selling for that matter.

Lots of example like this all over WS.

Certainly are items made in countries they represent, I bought a nice German made bell in June as well. But trying to say the shops are full of items made in the pavilion country is not the facts and thus not consistent with Epcot's theme under your example.

ANIMATED JAPANESE CHARACTERS. Not animated Disney characters. OY, are you seriously this dense or are you just trolling?

And how does where the product is made matter? A lot of the stuff sold in American Adventure is made in China too. But, the products they sell depict AMERICA, American history. I don't care if the products were made on Mars. The products being sold represent products sold and made for THAT COUNTRY. Viking helmets are perfect for Norway. Olaf is perfect for Arendelle. See the difference? No? Figures....

I am fine with the loose adaptations that Disney does. I don't look to Disney movies for historical accuracy without a mix of "Hollywood" thrown in. For that matter I don;t look to any movies for that I guess. WWII movies (my favorite type) all have a mix of "Hollywood" thrown in. I am use to it.

I remember when a group was upset about Pocahontas and how it was not historically accurate in the way it portrayed the true store. If I remember correctly Mel Gibson (pre insane Mel) said something to the effect "it has a F***ing talking raccoon in it, of course it's not 100% accurate" :)
You just discredited your own nonsense post prior. You are okay with a Mulan ride in China cause the movie depicts Chinese history, but, then, well, doesn't use historical accuracy for the movie. So what is it? Cannot be both.

See, you don't realize but your arguments continue to fall apart. Either Disney's animated Mulan movie accurately portrays Chinese history, or it doesn't. Since it doesn't, then no, it does not belong in the China pavilion in World Showcase. Also, Pocahontas wouldn't be a fit for the American Adventure either.

It would work and oh it might be a good Illumination viewing area too :)

Dreamworks made Road To El Dorado, and still remains their best animated movie to date, well that and Kung Fu Panda, Sprit, Chicken Run, Dragon......etc..... :)

I would love to see Disney travel south of the border in an animated film.

Well I made it through 29 pages before skipping to the current end and my thoughts are: I hope Willard Scott takes us on our maiden voyage to bookend the pavilion historically. It would make a nice reference in a @marni1971 tribute.

Well, the money was a very big part of it.

To use a less controversial example, Young Justice and Green Lantern were quite popular on Cartoon Network. However, both shows were cancelled, possibly due to unhappy advertisers. (You see, girls watched Young Justice and Green Lantern, but the ads were all centered on boy products).
Oh I remember that.. everyone was ed at Cartoon Network for their dumb choices in cancelling those shows.
They could have tried to make a smart move (like Nickelodeon, who embraced both sexes loving the show)

Cartoon Network as shot their own foot numerous times.

I often wondered how Mexican Donald Duck actually was...You could have put the 3 Amigo's on that tour and it would have been just as authentic. Does Disney even have a Mexican princess? better get on that...Selena Gomez is starting to turn to the dark side.
Selena isnt even Mexican.
She was born in the US.

Wasn't Disney supposed to make a Day of the Dead movie?
They didn't do well when Pixar tried to copyright "Day of the Dead". You cannot copyright a national holiday.

Anyway, ReelFX's version (from Guillermo Del Toro) is out already named BOOK OF LIFE.

If Pixar doesn't scrap it in the wake of that other movie that's coming out in a few weeks, like what they did with Newt once Rio came out.

I dont see why they would.

Anyone remembers the consecutive identical ideas between movie groups?
Volcano vs Dante's Peak? how about Deep Impact vs Armageddon?
