Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

One thing we can all take away from the Maelstrom/Frozen debacle is this: You guys salivating over a Star Wars Land better be prepared for a letdown. TDO will probably put a Star Wars show in the Muppet Theater and be done with it, AND think it's a good fit. After all, Yoda was a puppet, right?

Oh, here we go. A backhanded assault on Muppets and Star Wars in a thread that has nothing to do with either.

Actually...Star Wars and the Muppets......and Disney....work very well together...

Just sayin'....:joyfull: Still a better connection then Frozen in Norway....

Please provide examples of how, prior to this Frozen debacle, World Showcase's vision and intent has been compromised.

Like I said, to me it's a giant very well executed retailtainment area. Lots of shopping and eating going on, and rightfully so IMO. Lord knows I partake in enough of it when I am there :)

That's my only worry. Are they going to build a Mexico bypass? It's already a bottleneck.

That is a interesting ideal. The could do it, but who knows what they have in mind for crowd control at Norway when it opens. I do think they learned some lessons from the M&G at Norway so I would guess it would be better controlled than that was.

I know that the crowd arguing back and forth here has no interest in, you know, actual facts - but here is a Norwegian who seems to disagree with folks and thinks that there is quite a bit of Norway in Frozen...

But as usual, I'm sure this will be entirely dismissed, because no one knows Norway better than a bunch of folks who have walked through the pavilion at Epcot over the last 30 years...

Well I am sure someone will be along shortly to dismiss this as making no real sense. I mean no way the country of Norway is more Norwegian than a collection of fake building at them park in Florida :)

If they learned a lesson from the M&G they wouldn't be putting in a ride that will most definitely attract even longer lines to the area. Plus the fact ANOTHER M&G is going back in. It's like TDO takes stupid pills with breakfast.

What point are those pictures supposed to prove? WS has some of the best themed shops in all of WDW. And... Who said it wasn't supposed to have shopping?

That Olaf in WS is not tipping any balance, look at the post I replied to.

The concept of WS as some type of educational area is false IMO, it's a "buy stuff and eat stuff" area with great fireworks show nightly. Frozen is not going to change or compromise that in the least as the post I replied to implied it would.

Nope. None of those make your point.
Retail, properly themed and consisting of goods sold and manufactured in the various countries, is consistent with the Epcot theme.

I don't see any photos of pavilions being taken over by 'toons. Not one.

No one has EVER said EPCOT wasn't a theme park -- the park's theme being the source of the debate. I mean, yeah...

I would guess they learned valuable lesson on crowd management in that area from previous issues. Disney and the team that runs crowd management at the Superbowl are the two best groups in American in crowd movement. I would think they have a few things they will improve on from the first round of M&Gs.

Yep, really.
1. that list is quite out of date.
2. Many of those listed are hardly "sponsors." More like "donators" whose contributions are very small.
But they lost Horizons because GE pulled out and they didn't rebuild until they got another sponsor. When United Technologies left the Living Seas turned into the leaky cauldron.

I just don't see anything they can do to avoid the pavilion becoming a cluster(you get the idea) when this thing opens. It's not just a break in theme, it'll be an operations nightmare. I truly feel bad for the Norwegian CM's that'll have to work it.

WS has been portrayed on this thread a number of times by a number of poster as some sort of educational area that was going to be ruined/compromised/destroyed etc by bringing Olaf and friends in. That bringing Frozen in was a insult to Norwegian culture and it's people, go back and read as many pages as you want. You will see a ton of examples of just that.

My view is that is not an accurate picture of what WS is and thus Olaf is not compromising or destroying anything with his frosty presence.

Yeah, and many are current and continue to give money. Similarly, there have been several new sponsors over the years (Ocean Spray comes to mind).
