Disney CMs Denied Bathroom Breaks

Sweating it out, become dehydrated and not peeing in a place like Orlando can lead to kidney stones, which can lead to emergency room visits, which can lead to higher medical cost, which can lead to...believe me I know been thru three (not in Orlando).

I'm not following the insider jokes, but anyway....

I think there could be more to this than a "mean corporate boss" abusing a helpless, defenseless employee. I know that there are a lot of people out there that abuse restroom privileges. These might of been two people that show up to work with finished Big Gulps in hand and in just enough time to make it to there stations. Then "Wow!" 15 minutes later they have to go to the bathroom. I think that it is the employees responsibility to take care of personal things before work. I would think that the company was probably telling these two people to think logically and to try to plan out what they need to do. If they feel the need to consume 46 oz of fluid before work (just an example), show up 5-10 minutes early and go to the bathroom before they need to report. Try to be reasonable in what you do and plan things out. There are a lot of people that abuse systems and try to hold the company accountable and not themselves.

Its just like with my kids. Before we go anywhere we make them go to the bathroom. If we don't there will be someone hopping up and down in the backseat within 5 minutes. Think and Plan.

If you know that you need to be somewhere for two or three hours and cannot reasonably go to the bathroom, plan ahead. If you can't physically make it that long, make it known and respect the company's time my doing it quickly and only when necessary. Like I said before, I think there is more to this story.

I know some people can't hold it, but they who can't need to plan and communicate.

Or is that just me? :lookaroun
That is the biological function of the body when a lot of water is consumed. The clearer it is the better you are.

Ok

The management would not have restricted the bathroom break unless there was a reason to do so. I can not imagine someone not letting an associate go simply for the manager's own personal amusement. A reason for not letting them go must exist. Most likely, it was one of the two following reasons:

A. The associates had previously abused their bathroom breaks.

or

B. The area where they were was very busy at that time.

Now, I am sure that if the situation was "B", then the answer from management would have been something along the lines of "can you wait a few minutes until this rush is over/ until relief shows up"

But, something about this story makes me think that the reason was "A".

First of all, the only news channel that covered this was Channel 6, which oversensationalizes everything, and will send a news crew out to cover the opening of an envelope. This is the same channel that added sound effects in-between stories to make the broadcast more exciting. Secondly, if you were a good associate, and you had a bad day at work, would you really run to the press? Most reasonable ppl would talk it over with their boss, or their bosses boss, or the human resources department.

Well maybe one day Disney will replace their CM's with audio-animatronics. That way they won't have to waste precious time by doing "petty" things such as going to the bathroom!

If you have a yellow liquid...and add a bunch of clear water to it...doesn't it get less yellow? ;) (When you're dehydrated, the urine isn't "diluted" so when you drink water...it dilutes it and makes it less yellow)

It's a pain at the All-Stars. At least at Pop Century and Riverside, you don't have to go outside and then back in to get to the bathroom.

I know that was the dumbiest thing they ever did. I worked at Allstars for a week last year.\

p.s. I have spent a a night in the lovely Celebration ER for kidney stones as well LOL!!

I know what you mean. I work in a Fast Food place and when we're in a rush, no matter where you are, front or back, if you have to go you have to hold and pray that the customers go away.

FYI...

Florida Law only states an employee must take at least a half-hour (30 min) break/lunch (off the clock) for every consecutive 6-hour shift.

...otherwise face penalties.

Most times, you see the usual 8 hr shift split (as close as possible) in the middle.

...and yes, breaks are privilages-not 'rights'...

but not too many employers enforce those words to the 'tee'.

Yes! Once I did that and almost forgot to flush the toilet because it was all clear-like.
