Today, I think for the second time ever (1st time was a hurricane), Disney closed down all of it's parks due to the terrorist attacks in NY and Washinton. Soon after, Universal and all of the other Orlando theme parks followed. Is it just me, or were these parks being too careful??? The schools around here didn't even close up, and yet the field trip to Universal tommorow is canceled because it's "unsafe." Is this just me, or would you agree with me???

When you are faced with the kind of madness we all saw today, you can never be too safe. Disney were totally correct in my opinion to close their parks.

I sort of agree with you, but, if Disney should take these percautions, why wouldn't schools??? If something happened at my high school for instance, that would be 4500 students trying to get out of the school at once through the narrow hallways.

Also, if some sicko plane hijacker wanted to crash into something in Florida, why would they choose a theme park. It won't really do anything bad for the United states, besides kill a lot of people. So far, the worlds trade center has been bombed and so has washington. These are both major important buildings to the country's army and economy, but I guess you are right. They can't be too careful.

I agree with Disney's decison. When you think about it, Spaceship Earth is a target. Its big enough to see from air planes, and thus big enough to be a target. I really dont think those responsible for todays attacks know, or even understand what Disney means to America, but it is a scary thought. To think that these pyschos might still be ready and waiting to attack again.
I highly doubt they'd attack WDW, but you never know. I mean, I never expected a terrorist to crash a plane into the Wolrd Trade Center...but look what happened.

Well if you consider that MK is having in excess of 30,000 guests per day, it is a comparible target to what happened today, in-terms of the number of people in one place.

I am glad that Disney are in touch enough to recognise the threats, and take the appropriate action.

I fully agree with Disney's decision. Terrorists target anywhere were there are a lot of people and any where were the gov't will be effected.

I live just miles outside of NYC there is going to be a lot of people I know who know people who work there. Fortunately everybody in my family is safe... none of them work in the city. We were relayed the information in school today.... although they never acknowledged the collapse, makes sense of course. We were not let our or anything which I think also makes sense because the administrators don't want mass number of children leaving school & buses being routed, etc. because it creates chaos & confusion and possible target.

I can only wish only the best for the families & friends of all victims. I've been in shock most of the day and I still can't believe that the Twin Towers, a staple of the NY skyline and way of life is GONE.

I also think Disney made the absolute right decision. I beleive if Terriorist target Los Angles, Disneyland will be toast beacuse it is an historic landmark. I beleive Disney should have total security at Disneyland and start installing emergency shelters over the years.

The point of these attacks seems to have been to attack icons of the American culture.

The World Trade Centre, The Pentagon, The State Department, allegedly Camp David.

WDW is a prime example of an Amercan capitalist success. As said abovem a hijacked plane into Spaceship Earth or the Cinderellas Castle (THE icon of the Magic Kingdom) would have almost as big an impact to the general public.

I applaud the brave decision by Disney Executives to make this clodure, though it saddens me that world events make it neccesary.

I think Disney did the right thing in closing the parks today and I wouldn't blame them IF they decided to remain closed. At this point I don't believe alot of folks could enjoy themselves anyway. A terrorist attack on a Disney park in my opinion, would affect us in a way that todays events have affected us. It would hurt. To imagine a war torn WDW or Disneyland, Statue of Liberty, White House etc. would psycologically affect us true blue Americans as what happened today has. Here in south La. we are on a state of alert with the Mississippi River and nuclear plant and chemical plants. The gas stations are rumored to close at dusk.Today is a day that will live in infamy. All I can say is if the U.S. goes in to retaliate, don't stop like we did with the Gulf War. Take the SOBs out, off the face of this earth.

i think they made they definately made the right decision.with all the people that visit each day its better to be safe than sorry.besides i dont know whod want to spend one of saddest days in us history at disney

Disney did the right thing, while in school the only thing we did was watch TV and news updates, I was thinking about what Disney does in these cases, and I got the answer as the headline "Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL is evacuating". This day has been so filled with terror and fear, there are no words.

Have they said when WDW will be back up for business?

Probly not since nobody has said anything lately except most businesses will be back up for business for tomorrow.
