Just an FYI, if a character falls, or hurts themselves, it hurts. It may look funny, but it's actually pretty painful. Just thought i'd throw that out there.

Amen sistah

I don't beleive that cause i saw an anvil fall on Donalds head the other day and outside of a 4 inch bump there was nothing wrong with him. Now since the Donald on tv is the same one that is at the park i see no reason why it would in fact hurt.

Believe it. I know of characters who are on permanent disability for injuries sustained on the job that wouldn't look that bad when taken at face value.

Har Har Har. I hate to say it, but that's what most people think. Next thing you know, "Chip" is at Florida Hospital because some guest thought that it would be funny to hurt him.

Ugh... I spent my fair amount of time at Celebration and Sand Lake due to a combination of prickish guests and bad management decisions

Don't get me going on guests who hurt characters

It took all I had in me not to deck a select few guests

I didn't witness it but several years ago I remember reading that a Pluto-ish CM fell off a float in the backstage area, was run over, and died. How sad is that?

Right about what happen, wrong about the details that led to the occurence. I was at the viewing, and it was sad.

I imagine those large costumes and limited site/mobility can be quite dangerous. Also, considering the Florida heat, how the heck can they stand how hot it gets in there? I've often wondered what the trick was because you know they'd be dropping like flies in the dead of summer if they didn't have some cooling technique.

First statement is correct about some costumes, but not all. Some are actually not uncomfortable at all and don't restrict your motion/visibility. Most aren't like that though, and have some limitations, so you work with them. As for the heat issue, you just get used to it. There's no trick, you just develop a tolerance and drink as much water or nasty yellow powerade as your body can handle.

Guests do that??? That's kinda...well...sadistic. I love the characters. So often it amazes me how well they communicate their thoughts, etc. by using gestures alone.

Some guests are sick ________.

Who would hurt them? I just want a hug..Especially from Pooh! :)

Sick deranged guests

That's Disneyland. That's a rather rare occurence there, as guests in DLR tend to have more respect than the ones at WDW. A lot of characters go out unescorted and just leave if they feel unsafe. I actually think that's more magical than WDW, but I know that it's impossible to do in WDW due to the larger and more diverse guests that visit. DLR is more homogenous and a local park that... well... the locals respect. That's why their AP's are notoriously picky about any change at the parks. They care about their parks and respect them.

Am I the only one who hears "Pluto" swearing as well?

I don't... it's probably someone in the background

Last time I was at Disneyland the characters had an escort but it would be for an entire area.

When I was at Disneyland I did see Mickey get hit and I went and told the kid not to do that again. Mickey was just walking around Town Square and he wasn't stopping for pictures, but when I told him what I did he stopped and got a photo with me and then I walked him off set, while a mob of guests with autograph books just stood there shocked.
