Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger today announced that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Walt Disney World will officially open to guests on August 29 2019.

Even more interesting is the DLR requirement to reserve a time slot to get into SW:GE at all... for almost a month... I'm guessing that will be extended, and something nothing very similar will happen in DHS.
Don't know how they'll control capacity at DHS yet... lottery? FCFS? Biggest line of credit?

I’m both very excited and very anxious, since our trip is in mid-September. 
But maybe this means (and I’m hoping) that MMRR and the gondolas will be operational by then as well?

They'll have to close the entrance some kind of way after critical mass has been reached. How early do the parking lots open? I can imagine folks will get to the gates hours before opening to experience it.

I'm glad we are at AKL in December...by THEN the lines should extend to just about outside my resort door. (with that cast member holding that sign stating line starts here)
