You're calling Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel and basically the modern superhero craze, a talking puppet?

Wow, just wow...
Because that's exactly what he is. He has no power in the company yet is still connected. It's not like George Lucas who is not connected to Star Wars anymore. Stan Lee is going to say what the studios want him to say. George Lucas is going to say whatever he wants (as he's proven).

You know what's funny?

So if Stan Lee was honest...he would have said, "From my point of view this is horrible. Bringing all of my Marvel characters together under one roof, one home, is going to destroy what I created!" ?

Sure, cause he is actually lying that he wants all his creations back under one creative roof. :rolleyes:o_O

Stan Lee is 94 years old, and given how society treats the elderly with their "traditional" thinking, fortunate that someone even cares enough to get his opinion.

Disney might get the Hulk movie rights back once they give the distribution rights of Dreamworks films that Fox had back to Universal.

With Fox I think Disney has so much leverage on their side in terms of the various deals with Universal, from Hulk to the Marvel Theme Park deal. So I expect there to be announcements over the next several years with deals between Disney and Comcast/NBCUniversal.

I don’t know who else listened to both investor calls yesterday. But I did.

Basically Disney wants to release 3 online streaming services. They believe people want more control over what they watch and pay for. Bob wants to offer these for a significantly lower cost then most. There will be a sports package that is more supplementary to people who already have ESPN, a family service for Disney, marvel, Star Wars, and then they want to use Hulu for mature entertainment (think FX shows, Simpson’s, Deadpool may have to go on this one etc.)

I think this is going to be good for Disney and bad for consumers. By splitting up the services, you will end up paying more. If you want sports, Star Wars, and mature Marvel you will have to pay for 3 services, instead of 1. Each of those maybe a lower price but you may want content from all 3 and end up paying more.

Not sure I buy the cheaper price either. If it is highly desirable content, it could command a premium price even if it is a smaller overall content. Between streaming services Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and HBO Now, HBO has the least amount of content but is the Highest price. The way Disney has operated in the last few years, they certainly are not known for trying to compete with price. They charge a premium.

I meant like adding new Hulk films to the MCU.
Understand, but there is a bigger picture not just one single character for the MCU. Universal had a lot of deals with different companies like Marvel and Fox for content from movies to their Theme Parks. Disney is will now be in control of a lot of those deals. Which gives them leverage. So that is why I think there could be a lot of deal making in the future between Disney and Comcast/NBCUniversal.

The way I understood what Iger was saying is that it'll be like how you can bundle services with cable/phone/internet. You can pick one, two, or all three for a bundled price. And because they are competing with Netflix and Amazon, who undercut each other in price, Disney will price this competitively.

The only ones that Universal has some rights in there parks is The Simpsons, and American Horror Story during Halloween Horror Nights.

This isn't just limited to the theme parks. There are distribution and content deals in place as well. All of that would be on the table if there was deal making to happen.

Sorry, thanks for that! That’s far better worded then what I said.

Yes it looks like it’s built so you can bundle or go solo. So for instance, I would want the Disney and mature content but not the sports. This would likely be a comparable price to Netflix. I think if you did all 3 you’d pay more then a solo streaming service, but individually they’ll be cheaper.

Universal deal with AHS most likely will end with Cult in Orlando while Hollywood still has Asylum, Coven, and Cult as a maze.

Yes, just like if you get bundle services like cable/phone/internet it would be more expensive then if you got cable alone. But the individual services will be cheaper. At least that is what Iger is saying now, when released we'll see what the actual prices may be.
