Disney Bashers: Here they come!

I recognize the fact that not all people in the world love or like Disney (don't know why). However I don't see why people would take their "hate" and create false rumors, that in turn can hurt a company or people...in many ways its not fair. And not matter what type of Disney fan you are...fairness is important...even if Disney is wrong...that being said....

As many already know...the rumor that M:S is too intense and causing people to become ill is spreading like a wild fire across the internet. I've read the remarks on the various sites depicting this information, and can't understand why on Earth there are people out there that would do such a thing....

I'll try to answer the question as best I can...the reasons...one the rumor could have intentionally been sparked by competitors (seems unlikely...but if you think about it...makes alot of business sense to me)...two people are playing some sick joke..or..three this is really happening (and judging by what people have posted on this site that is not true as long as you follow the guidelines).

I was just over at another site...and there was a commentary about the Jim Hill article...very sarcastic and anit-Disney in fact, will this rumor destroy the hype around M:S? I hardly think so...but its something that shouldn't be taken lightly...is it possible for a journalist to be prosecuted for some kind of slander? If I were Disney I would do something fast to stop the rumor from spreading.

Seems to me that the Disney Bashers are out in full force doing the dirty work for Disney's competitors.

I can tell you one reason why people (teens mostly) dont like Disney. It's not up to date with what millions of people are looking for, thrills, ok, you'll find a few thrills on the property, or you could go to the best theme park in the world (IOA) and get like 15 thrills at one park!

There are Disney bashers, but keep in mind, there are Universal bashers, too.

The Magic Kingdom is the most popular theme park in the world...and it has little to do with thrills. So, it's not really worthwhile to look at the bashers, but at the guests' decisions (which hands down lead to Walt Disney World).

Like Walt said, "I don't work for the critics." :animwink:

yup... and see 15 pieces of garbage per square meter, 15 rude employees, and spend 15% more on food....

but hey.. when all you want is thrills, I have a good thrill for you... do 90 mph down SR 417 in the middle of a rainstorm. Not even IOA can top that...

ok.. enough.. lol. *stares @ USF/IOA 2 year Preferred AP*... as much as I prefer Disney, i'll still go to IOA to have some fun...

This is completely off topic, but is there a book of Walt Disney quotes? He has so many good ones, I think there would be plenty to fill a book. Or maybe they could do Disney quotes in general, that include Walt, the animated pictures, and maybe other company representatives like Eisner or Roy Disney.

Yes, look for "The Quotable Walt" - search amazon.com...you can see it any of the book areas in the theme parks. :)

So yes...bashers (who I don't talk about :lookaroun ) are interesting people...um...yes... :D

Disney Bashers

Ahhh....those who hate Disney. Where do I even begin...
I used to be a campus recruiter for WDW College Program at SUNY Albany, and even though I loved it when Disney came around, it was horrible trying to recruit. There was a group of about 10 "protesters" who would come together once every semester when they knew Disney was coming into town. They would rip down our posters, take a booth across from or next to us in the campus center, and interrupt the campus recruitment info session to harass our recruiter. All because they believed Disney has sweatshops. Now, I'm not going to turn a blind eye to their accusations, but I did my research, and their claims make no sense. And go figure, when Wal-Mart came into town they did nothing!
My sister is one of the few teenagers that loves Disney. It is even hard for her! Whenever we go to Disney World, she would even be made fun of by her teachers! Why people care to involve themselves in trivial things like this is beyond me.
I know Disney is a corporation, but people just need to loosen up. Relax, watch some Little Mermaid, and have some fun.

I know exactly what you mean...and something like what your are saying was in the back of my mind when I started this thread. You see I understand that there are people out there that love to attack corporations for their business practices...and some corporations really deserve it...however I doubt that Disney deserves that sort of treatment? (I know it may seem that I am biased..since I am a Disney fan..but like others out there I don't blind myself from the negative and would probably be the first to pin point Disney's negatives...but there's a limit to everything). And I think that bashing Universal is as bad as bashing Disney...eventhough Universal sometimes picks fights with Disney (cough cough...the Shrek jokes).

True...but then you run the risk of the bashers having the ability to ruin business. Cause if people go around saying that M:S makes people real sick...some will be too afraid to ride...and M:S is suppose to draw the crowds to Epcot. Then again, people have the habit of doing dangerous things...so maybe these rumors help... :hammer:

Yes, I agree. I think that if there are Disney bashers out there, Disney appropriately picks their battles and proves them wrong. Unfortunately, not many people are interested in that aspect, but more interested in what a company held in such high regard has done "wrong." A perfect example comes to mind when I think of the opening of Animal Kingdom. I remember it being all over the news that Disney animals had died while at Animal Kingdom. A few years later as a Cast Member, I had the wonderful opportunity to take a tour of AK Lodge with a AK Animal Specialist. When I asked him about the death of the animals, he said that it was vastly overblown. The Zoological Agency (sorry, can't remember the exact name) has a standard of a certain percentage of animals that are allowed to die during transport. Disney was actually WAY below that percentage, but just because it seemed that something bad was happening, it was blown out of proportion.

I wonder who could've have blown it out of proportion....hmmmm...(the media plays a large role though).
