Try not to believe anything the bus drivers tell you about upcoming projects. I'm surprised he/she didn't mention the 5th gate at WDW :lookaroun

...I didn't say I believed it lol. I'm just letting you guys know what i've heard. For all we know, it could be the truth OR it could be 100% false.

Either way, just thought I'd throw in what I had heard :D

I am from Memphis, and there is this amazing resort being built in nearby Tunica Miss. Now they have announced the company as being Myriad entertainment, but, when I was in Disney world in april, I also used to be a cast member, several of my old managers were asking me how the project in miss. was going, and I was like what. They said that Disney was using the name Myriad to cover up what was going on, until the announcement was made. The resort is a fourth of the way finished.

They wouldn't go to the lengths of settting up a new company with seperate directors and no mention of Disney at all to build it. I don't see Disney getting into casinos in our lifetime.

I live in Tunica. It's really a large county, so it's easy to tell around here what's really going on. I can tell you that the Myriad project is still in the planning and financing stages. They haven't even broken ground yet. It is set to be a casino+ project (resort, entertainment venues, casino, shopping, etc.) http://www.myriadentertainmentandresorts.com/ Of the two major projects that have begun around here.. this is the least likely of the two to be a Disney project.

Being a bit of a conspiracy theorist, there is a suspicious dot on the DVC map that pretty much looks like the location of a project that is set to break land any day now. The Riverbend project, just north of the Tunica county line (in DeSoto County, MS where gambling is not legal) will have an MGM theme park, hotels, entertainment, shopping centers, golf courses, and so on and so on. Also, the people who worked seriously deep in planning this area, were involved in planning the area directly around DLP. I could keep going, but the basics can be found on the home page of the House Rep that has pushed this project since first thought. http://www.johnmayo.com/riverbend_crossing.htm

FantasiaBish and I went to the bill signing that would allow tax cuts for companies involved. We were dressed up in our best Disney Polos and talked to John Mayo about how excited we were. Oddly enough a few moths later we stopped into the DVC building on Main St. at MK and asked about the odd dot so close to our home. We talked to a nice CM who started telling US about these two strange people at the bill singing dressed in Mickey Best thinking it was a Disney Project. We told him THAT WAS US and he just laughed. Too funny! :ROFLOL:

btw does this look familiar to you?
Sorry it's so large, I don't know how to minimize it... anyway.. this is very MGM (err, DHS?) meets DCA for me. More concept art on the web site.

While I have conflicted thoughts on this development, I have thought since first reading about this that Niagara Falls would be a perfect location...

12-14 million visitors from all over the world visit Niagara Falls (USA...I'm not sure about the numbers for Canada). Niagara Falls, USA is woefully underdeveloped, especially compared to Niagara Falls, Canada, which has Clifton Hill, a nighttime entertainment area, as well as two casinos. Putting location-based entertainment in Niagara Falls could easily bring in millions of people per year (and perhaps could even draw more people to the area), and help encourage tourists to spend more money in Niagara Falls, USA (particularly since there may be even more hassle in going across the US/Canada border, leading to tourists hesitant to cross into Canada and more than willing to spend their money in the US). It is less than two hours from Toronto (the 5th largest city in North America), six hours from NYC, and a little over 3 hours from Cleveland and Detroit. It really is centrally located compared to other major cities in the NE, in addition to the automatic tourist numbers.

Honestly, I think it's a no-brainer, but that's just me

Anyway, just my thoughts...

Ehhhh - the Niagara Falls area is dumpy. I would think that would be one of the LAST places Disney would want to put something. The Canadian side is "developed", yes, but developed with a bunch of tacky tourist traps.

I'd like to see something in Myrtle Beach, not just because I live nearby, but because I think Myrtle Beach has a lot of potential to be really nice someday. The couple areas that they have spent a lot of effort on (Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing) are super awesome. Myrtle Beach could use some more classy entertainment like that.

I'm not sure if this is of any use but when i was down in WDW a few weeks back, on the way to Universal, one of the bus drivers went past Sea World and explained that they were builing a new water park that is going to be bigger than one of Disney's so now Disney is in the talks to build a new water park as well....competition i guess?

I'm not sure of the validity of this but I'm just letting you know what i've been told.

Looks to be quite an amazing water park for all ages and a great addition to the Orlando area. Definitly themed as a SeaWorld park (as it should be).

Well put Hun.... BTW the Mr. Perry who own the land Myriad is going to be built on said his check CLEARED Friday September 28...

Go North Texas, Go North Texas, Go, Go!!!

I second that cheer! I'd be thrilled if they built something up in North Texas. (Personally, the wish is that they build something in Addison, Texas which has the most resturaunts per capita than anywhere else in the world....over 120 resturaunts, I think.....and the center of Addison is less than a 5 minute drive from my house. If they did build one in Addison, I'd be spending quite a bit of time there! :)

For what it's worth (and that's probably not much...) -

My In-Laws own some land and a trailer in Pigeon Forge, TN, which they use as a vacation home. They were told by some local townsfolk who are working on some construction there (on an area which has been grated out and developed) that Disney is doing it, and builing a water park and maybe something else...

There actually is a large resort being built there by some former Disney executives, but the Walt Disney Company itself is not involved. Its called the "Pigeon Falls Village Resort".

However, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney did officially build something around there like a hotel or water park. It is a growing vacation area and Dollywood is one of the most successful regional theme parks in the country. I believe the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has like 12 million visitors annually.

I have been sitting on this rumor for quite some time now, but I know someone who works for the local steel mill here in SC, and claims to be working on an "EPCOT in Myrtle Beach". I am very skeptical, but feel with all this going on, I should add my two cents of rumor.

Take it for what it's worth and remember your salt.
