We walked through the Outpost and our next stop was in Germany. I really wanted to get something from Karamell Kuche, so we ducked in there. The line wasn’t long at all and it moved really quickly!
Chad got the pecan cluster and I got the caramel apple oatmeal cookie. We wrapped them up and saved them for later. Chad wanted to get a Brat so we stopped by the quick service here and ordered a Brat and a Pretzel. I was able to snag a table and we sat down to enjoy our meal. He said the Brat was good and the Pretzel was amazing!
Italy was next and we enjoyed looking around the shops. We skipped the American Pavilion because we’ve done that one before and we were running out of time. We walked through Japan’s stores and then through Morocco’s stores. We could see Aladdin and Jasmine were out, but their line was way too long for us!
We headed into the France pavilion and I was expecting there to be photopass photographers here because I had seen them before. But they weren’t out. We had someone take a picture for us and then we went in to see the movie.
I think we just missed it because the lobby was pretty empty. My throat was feeling pretty rough by now and I had to pull out the tissue as I was getting congested. We sat on the floor and waited for the show to start. I updated my notes and I think Chad fell asleep. We got into the theater and I have to tell you the music in this one out me to sleep. There wasn’t a whole lot of talking and I just fell right asleep. It was also at this point that I realized we never checked out of the hotel that morning. We had dropped our bags at bell services, but never went to the front desk.
When we came out of the movie, Chad noticed that the photopass photographers were out! We got pictures we four different photographers in the France area. Only two of the pohotgrapher's photo's ended up on our CD, but I did have one of the others take on with my phone.
Then we headed back to the front of the park stopping for a few more pictures along the way. We did stop for a drink because I was feeling pretty warm and in need of refreshments. We got some iced tea/frozen lemonade mix and it was pretty good.
The wait for the bus was a bit longer than usual. We watched two buses come and go for the Caribbean Beach resort, but none for ours. We did finally get on a bus and headed back to the resort. We got there and filled our mugs and threw out the remainder of our water and powerade bottles so we didn’t have to deal with those at the airport. I wanted to stop by the front desk to make sure everything was squared away with check-out since we forgot to stop by before we headed to the park. We were good, so we sat out on the patio by the pool for a few minutes before it was time to go pick up our bags. We got our bags and sat inside waiting on DME to arrive.
When it did we put our suitcases underneath and climbed onboard. I think Chad fell asleep on the way to the airport. I watched the little movie they played.
We were the second stop once we arrived and we gathered our suitcases and off to security we went. The line was pretty long and took about 45 minutes to get through. We had plenty of time though. My throat was still feeling pretty scratchy so we grabbed a bottle of water and headed to our gate. Neither of us was very hungry, so we munched on our snacks from Germany and just waited for the plane. We sat there about an hour before they started calling people to board. I was pretty restless.
We got on and didn’t have the check our bags this time which I was very happy about because I didn’t want to have to deal with baggage claim in Atlanta. The flight was smooth.
I slept most of the time. I didn’t even pull out my iPad. We landed in about an hour, but then we had to wait on the tarmac for a bit. We were on our way to Ground Transportation about 8:45. The parking shuttle had said to follow the orange signs for bus pick up, but we couldn’t find the orange signs at first. We saw green and purple, but no orange. We finally found them and were on our way in the right direction. We got to the bus just as the driver had put the bus in reverse. He stopped for us and let us on. Soon we were on our way to our car.
They stopped at the entrance to get the keys for the people who had had their car detailed while they were gone and then we were off again. We were the first ones dropped off right at our car. In fact, the driver actually put our suitcases in the trunk for us. We used our Groupon to pay and they gave us bottled water and off we went. We were on the road to the in-laws at 9:30. We got there about 10:00 and picked up the dogs. They had done well, but Mia had somehow gotten her collar stuck on the crate and chewed through it while they were out. They put Milo’s collar on Mia and made a Velcro collar to put around Milo until we could get a new one (which we picked up the following day). We chatted for a little while and were headed home by 10:30. We were home by 11:00pm.
It was a crazy weekend for me! I didn't get to post all weekend. Here is the final segment of my Trip Report:
Final Thoughts:
It was HOT! I was so glad we bought that sunscreen the first day because it was nice to have all weekend. We went through the whole bottle because I could feel the sun burning me. I didn’t come back a little red in the face, but otherwise, not too bad.
We did a lot of walking. My feet hurt more than anything else this trip. Usually my knees bother me pretty bad, but they didn’t much at all. I tried to wear my flip flops as much as possible, especially while we weren’t in the parks. I think we’ll get insoles for our shoes for our next trip.
We were pretty lucky on timing for most things the whole trip. We would walk up on things as they were starting or get in line at just the right time. It was pretty cool not to have to wait very long and we got to do most everything.
I loved being able to wear our anniversary and birthday buttons. While we don’t expect special treatment, it’s always nice to hear Cast and even other guests say happy birthday or happy anniversary. And we did get a few cool treats for having them too.
The resort was nice. We got to spend some time there, though we do like to spend most of our time in the parks which is why we stay at the value resorts. The main pool was usually pretty crowded and loud with the music and games, but it was fun. The computer pool was a lot quieter. We did walk over to the Bowling Pin pool to check it out, but never spent any time there. The only thing we ate at the food court was the pizza, but it was good. The staff at the resort was great.
We love Disney. While Chad enjoys it, he doesn’t love it like I do. We have other places we want to explore, so this will probably be our last trip to Disney until we have kids of our own to take. Well, except for the Princess Half next February. But I’m not really counting that as a trip, because we won’t really be in the parks very much at all that trip.
I really enjoyed this trip just the two of us. It was nice to be able to explore the parks and do some different things than we normally would. It was nice to relax and be able to enjoy each other’s company.
