Couple of questions...if we wanted to rent points for Christmas week 2015 how difficult would it be? I would really like to try it here because it is a bucket list resort and I think Christmas would be magical. We only need a studio since it is just the three of us. We would not cook there ( the magic of disney is no cooking for me..). I am thinking Jambo because we would want to be close to transportation and food options. Thoughts? Opinions?

...a savannah view studio would need to be booked 9 mos or earlier and a garden view 8 mos or earlier. I'm guessing for Christmas week, you'd probably want to book earlier.

The earliest someone could book for you is at 11 months out and they would have to be an owner at AKV.

Correct. And even if you were to try and pay cash for it through Disney, you'd still be limited to the same 11-month window, since cash reservations are essentially you renting DVC points that Disney owns and they're under the same restriction as regular owners in using them.

One of my DVC memberships is at AKV and as of today (for reference for your 2015 trip), both the Savanna View & Standard View Studios are fully available for Christmas 2014, both at Jambo House and Kidani Village.

AKV is absolutely beautiful, a "spared no expense" resort with lots of details in the best tradition of Disney.

AKV has 2 separate buildings, "Jambo House" and "Kidani Village", about a 10-minute walk apart. (A shuttle van also runs continuously between the two buildings.)

Jambo House is where most of the action is. It has the hotel's grand lobby, two table service restaurants, a bar, the food court, a larger pool, and a larger store.

Kidani Village is quieter. It has one table service restaurant and a small store. Its pool is better for smaller children, having a small water park style play area. Its parking is underground, making it more convenient, especially in the Florida sun.

If you want to be in the middle of it all, go with Jambo. If you want to get away from it all, go with Kidani.

If it's possible, I'd suggest putting out feelers before January, so you know you have someone willing to rent out their points so you have those ducks in a row when it comes time.

AKV is a pretty big resort so there is a big pool of owners out there. There are likely to be some people looking to rent that years points. I think you have a decent shot if you call ahead. Good luck
