There is nothing wrong with not using a new technology.
My Grandmother said she was scared of the telephone when they first got one in the house.
Many said the same thing when the internet came out when I got out of college… it didn’t stop the internet.
We don’t have this message board without the internet.
It's truly horrible. What I am not looking forward to is the next evolution of the internet... we're already noticeably beyond a stage where the hive mind of the internet could do amazing things utilizing the 'new' tools at hand. Noticeably in the past 5 years or so, that hive mind has gotten dull and useless and information/thought that was readily available is decreasingly so. I blame not necessarily AI but social media as it has rotted the usefulness of the internet. The years of wonder and awe at being connected to the world in ways we couldn't imagine have surpaassed people using that power and in turn are now just social media rot.I do. It’s not a question of fear, as the poster you’re replying to suggested, but of seeing the damage it’s already done to education and wanting no part of it. Many students no longer feel the need to think or speak for themselves; they are getting AI to write their essays for them. The effects of this shift are truly depressing. I will never endorse a tool that is leading us to stop using our own brains and words.
1. Reboots? What reboots? Star Wars and Indiana Jones were revived. But there have been no reboots. 2. According to my research universal has made about 35 prequels and sequels in the last 15 years. Warner bros Has made about 40. Disneys made 34 not counting DCOMs so they are not making more then their 2 biggest competitors. What? reboots, remakes, sequels are in the same IP franchise bucket, Dis/Iger MO for 15 years
All those available seats and you choose the very side seats make me wonder if your there not to watch the movie I'll let you fill in the restGood morning from the San Diego 5k! I'm still training for a half in May so I only managed the 5k this morning. My friends are much more trained than I am and currently just passed the 10k split in the half marathon. Im enjoying my now traditional (unless I switch back to the half) post 5k bottomless mimosas and fruit platter at Provisional Kitchen in the Gaslamp Quarter. The grapefruit is particularly spectacular this morning. I figured I'd check out the local theaters down here SD way this AM, ya know, in case we get a sudden hankering for a bit of post race Snow White... but my fears of not being able to find a seat are quite unfounded this morning-

I love it!Brings back memories…
My grandparents on my Moms side had a phone on their farm, but it was on a party line…3 short rings, one long.
My grandparents on my Pops side never had a phone on their farm.
The only way they/we knew of local news, or a visit, was when someone started up the long dirt road and the hounds started losing their minds…it was always such a fun thing…!!!!!
My apologies for the thread drift, and trip down Memory Lane.
I still think Disney has a Burbank bubble problem, they are surrounded by like minded people so they think thats how everyone thinks. The echo chamber needs more dissenting voices to say “that’s not going to go over well in middle America”, or “that’s not going to work with the Asian market”, without those voices the movies they make appeal to a far smaller audience than they need to to be profitable.Just stating my observation. You are of course free to call it silly.
My observation is Disney makes the movies they want to make, it appears to me the money does not matter, they will spend whatever money they need to spend to finish a movie for better or worse.
Some will return a profit, many won’t but that doesn’t stop Disney from telling stories they want to tell, and sometimes re tell previous stories the way todays Disney wants to tell them.
The guy who greenlit inhumans? That guy?I still think Disney has a Burbank bubble problem, they are surrounded by like minded people so they think thats how everyone thinks. Disney has always pushed the boundaries, and I think they’ll continue to push them, but I think they’ve misjudged where the boundaries actually are, SoCal is far more progressive than the world is so if they’re making movies for the SoCal mindset they’re severely limiting their audience.
People celebrated when Perlmutter was forced out but the reality is they need more Perlmutters in the room to speak the realities of the world.
There are distincly two types of seats being selected for this film... the ones in the middle, who are there to watch it... and the ones on the edges and rear... they are not there to watch it.All those available seats and you choose the very side seats make me wonder if your there not to watch the movie I'll let you fill in the rest
Are you suggesting that Disney is buying tickets for nonexistent customers? All those available seats and you choose the very side seats make me wonder if your there not to watch the movie I'll let you fill in the rest
I love it!
Your story reminds me of the comedy bit by
Sebastian Maniscalco and how people used to welcome unexpected guests back in the day.
I always aim for the middle, but I also recognise that my approach is not universal.I take seats on the edge so I don't need to walk over people if I need to use the bathroom.
Yes, that dud was his, as were all the Marvel hits prior to 2019 when he was forced out, there’s been a distinct shift at Marvel since 2019 and it hasn’t worked out very well for them at the box office, people hated the guy but the reality is they need an old grump in the room to point out “that’s not going to work with half the world” or they risk half the world not showing up.The guy who greenlit inhumans? That guy?
I take seats at the edge also, but mainly because I don’t like people. The aisle seat guarantees me at least one free side and if the theaters empty it’s no big deal to move towards the center.I take seats on the edge so I don't need to walk over people if I need to use the bathroom.
Perlmutter lost his control over Marvel Studios in 2015, not 2019. He merely retained control of Marvel’s TV and media division until 2019.Yes, that dud was his, as were all the Marvel hits prior to 2019 when he was forced out, there’s been a distinct shift at Marvel since 2019 and it hasn’t worked out very well for them at the box office, people hated the guy but the reality is they need an old grump in the room to point out “that’s not going to work with half the world” or they risk half the world not showing up.
Perlmutter was a small, odious, vindictive person who was rightfully sidelined and ignored by the people building the MCU - that’s why he was so angry at Feige. He had next to nothing to do with the successful run of films.Yes, that dud was his, as were all the Marvel hits prior to 2019 when he was forced out, there’s been a distinct shift at Marvel since 2019 and it hasn’t worked out very well for them at the box office, people hated the guy but the reality is they need an old grump in the room to point out “that’s not going to work with half the world” or they risk half the world not showing up.
This movie bombed even worse than Snow White. For those voicing suspicion about the occupied seats being on the sides, perhaps this comparison will make you think again:
