As a business decision.....people from the U.S. by and large would never visit this park AND additionally they would also not decide to boycott the U.S. parks because of it. The same for any other region where there's already a Disney parks presence.

The same way I forget there's a Universal park in China, I'll probably forget there's even a park in Abu Dhabi after it opens.

For Disney, it's the biggest win-win.

If some complain about the heat in Orlando with frequent rainstorms you ain’t seen nothing yet regarding the heat in the Middle East with little to no rain.

It’s disappointing more is not being said about the hypocrisy of a company championing inclusion making this move
A lots been said about it here but those posts keep getting deleted for being political in nature and against forum rules.

The local customs and rules are a massive issue with this project but I understand why the mods are trying to avoid those subjects, this thread would be closed within an hour if we were allowed to openly discuss the political ramifications of this decision.

The thing about the ones having questions about country norms, rules, current environment , etc is that one can take their money elsewhere if one has concerns. We enjoy visiting parts of the Middle East and obey the rules and regs. One last thing we need to be involved in is with their judicial system. TWDC had thought about investing there and if some feel offended Disney will not lose much sleep. Many in the world will go experience what it seems to be the most lavish upcoming Disney park in the world. For the ones who are curious or cannot travel due to various reasons including the naysayers go watch for upcoming YouTuber videos.

Would I ever step foot in the Middle East, no but some people especially Disney YouTubers might.

I mean Disney has two parks in China so the theme keeps on going. Every company sells their soul to the devil so why is Disney any different.

Because Disney's current execs tout themselves with specific inclusion standards while shaking hands against it.

Capitalism 101 could care less if a few feelings are affected . It’s a competitive but also an unfair world out there.

Disney's current execs can have whatever person feelings they want.

Disney's current execs however have 1) an obligation to follow the law, which is why they are watering down and/or eliminating certain policies that run afoul of current regulations and law. and 2) have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of the company, which includes making financial deals that are profitable. Inking an almost zero risk deal with massive upsize, no real significant costs, in one of the riches areas of the world, pretty much checks those boxes.

There is a pretty big almost there with risk in terms of branding.

And that is exactly what current execs of this company have struggled the most with. It definitely checks those boxes.

I thought it resembled a lotus flower so I googled it and the lotus flower represents peace, enlightenment, self resilience, self improvement, and purity in the UAE.

Hard to tell anything from the very vague concept art but I wouldn’t be surprised if the castle isn’t a traditional castle like the other parks but more symbolic of the region.
Interesting- I wonder if the concept art is going for a mirage like effect of a flower in the desert.

Its hard to see but it also looks like the park could be surrounded by high rise buildings which would make for a unique central park like setting
