I think Disney is very much aware of that and is prepared for whatever PR headache comes.
I would suspect the Movie and Production Talent are safer than you might think.... I think it’s the employees who are duplicate (Accountants, Computer Techs, Human Resources, etc.) that are at the greatest risk. Fox (with Disney’s encouragement) has been paying retention bonuses for employee’s to stay, because if you aren’t careful, you can loose more employee’s than you want.....
I believe the statements, around regulation preventing the two companies from sharing confidential information until now..... I suspect it will take a while to make the decisions around systems, processes, duplication, and then determine which employees to keep and which to let go.... I would bet, 6 months to a year to make all of those decisions.
There are also local and state laws around layoffs of large numbers of employee’s which make it more expensive to do mass layoffs. With a company this large, they probably have turn-over in the range of 7 to 10% a year, which may make the transition easier. Disney will probably get calls for their talent, and I would also expect they will assist their employees with outplacement and job finding consulting firms.
