Steve, do I understand correctly that the After Hours Party starts at 9pm on June 30. Disney calendar still shows MK closing at 10PM and no party listed on that night, yet.

We arrive on June 30 and are curious on what our options are that night (MK until 10pm being one of them, another of course being braving the crowds in HS until 11;)

Thanks in advance
I'm fairly sure that 9pm start is a typo on the official info. I think they actually mean 10pm, and it will be adjusted.

One of the biggest reasons I love WDW in the summer is due to those frequent 1 or 2 am park closings the MK has.

Management proves once again that it doesn't seem to quite understand the guest experience. There's already a pile of planning crap dumped on the guest as it is, now the summer evening hours are being cut back on top of it. I feel like someone's taking scissors to my plans and just chopping them up into a string of paper dolls.

Because guests will pay it so they can now basically charge guests twice a day to enter the park. Kudos to them.

Generally I agree with this sentiment, but I will say, when I did it on 3/1 of this year, it was amazing...

It reminded me of Disney from years past... with so few people, it just was absolutely wonderful...

They need to announce it sooner in advance though.

Let people use that day as their down day at the resort and pay for just that one night, or schedule that as the day of arrival...

The notice is less than 90 days on some of these days, just too soon in my opinion.

Just keep the park open till 1a. The crowds will thin out after fireworks and you’ll get the same-ish experience for no extra dough.

That’s crazy talk though. Disney has found a new revenue stream. Hell will freeze over before they give that back. See the holiday parties for proof of concept.

I don't begrudge the upcharge itself, but I don't really like the way they go about it, I suppose.

Agreed on the notice they give. Their scheduling and giving notice to some things is pretty terrible, especially when they want you to schedule everything sixteen thousand years in advance.

It really is a sad shame. Being in the MK until midnight (or later) was such a treat. The crazies left after parade and fireworks and the park was practically empty. Sucks we'll never have those times back
This past Sunday, Animal Kingdom was beyond dead after the first showing of Rivers of Light. I rode Dinosaur, Everest and Kail all within an hour of each other with no wait. It was probably one of the best things about the entire trip. It was so quite and peaceful.

Did you attempt FoP that night? You can make a run on the attractions later at night :)

I would consider this if the crowds will be low. For me to buy such an event ticket, the wait times don't all have to be between walk on and 5 minutes, but if there are 20+ minute waits for most rides I would prefer just using a regular ticket to MK. From what I have read on this thread, lines were quite reasonable (low) during past events like this.
