It's funny b/c I was actually ****ed I had to book it. It fell on our only full studios day and my kids were dying to do jedi training. Knowing how long the lines were in the summer for that, i booked it JUST to be able to beat the crowd to Jedi. Funny, spent close to $300 to get into a 'free' experience. lol.
However, as I said, it turned out to be a really fun experience. And honestly thats what it was...an experience. there were only 60 people signed up that day, so said the CM with the clip board. And we felt like royalty walking the empty streets. Finished TSMM? Heck...lets go around again!

Then once the flood of people came in, it was off to breakfast and out of the crowds.

You just don't get this everyday.

That's how I felt with MK EMM! I also wanted to do the Studios one mainly bc of JTA, but the crowds were predicted to be a 9/10 on Saturday and a 6/10 on the Monday that we went. So I chose Monday. Waited almost 80 minutes in line for JTA :( so I think I made the wrong decision after all.lol. Next time I'll choose the Saturday for the HS EMM!

No, I'm thinking long term and outside the bubble of myself. It's what a business does... not just approach it as if I were the only consumer that mattered.

This 'event' is offered on a limited basis because they are still testing it. If they green light it, its not going to be 'once per year'.

Ok,so MK EMM has been going for close to a year now. HS EMM for what, 6 months? Is that ruining the rest of the day for people who attend these events?

You have 2 people on this thread who have loved them, and still stayed in the parks, and still enjoyed the rest of their crowded day.
Why don't you try actually listening to people instead of constantly assuming and creating misguided theories?

The Hub describes it as "Back by popular demand." I'd love to talk to someone who was part of that "popular demand" and ask WHY!? :) :)

They didn't need it during the parties. Already raking in extra revenue for those. Maybe the "popular demand" was from the executives to keep the revenue stream going.

I'll admit..I HATED the idea of booking the HS one before we did it. As said, I did it ONLY for the early sign up at Jedi.

But once we did it, I changed my opinion and would do it again (or something like it) if the opportunity was there. I still spent the day at the studios, I'll still go back and visit regularly again, it was just a really unique experience my family got to have. Thats all. But I am also a person that enjoys 'experiences'...Want to get me gift, take me to a concert vs buying me something to sit on a shelf. I like dessert parties b/c it frees my time up to do other things then just sit on main st. Thats just me.

But its also not for everyone or everyone's budget. I get it. I don't think the is an absolute right or absolute wrong in this. There is a certain podcaster who loved the Nighttime Magic event, and thats a guy who goes to the parks more then any of us, and still does as a regular daytime guest. I don't think it changes anything about the average theme park experience, I think most responsible people would see it as a special opportunity that costs money and is a special experience.

You sound very similar to the same type of mindset I have regarding cost and value of time. I will pay for convenience. I will pay for a unique experience. I will pay to not have to wait in line or stake out a spot an hour before a show. For these reasons I will- book dessert parties, dining packages, extra hour events, take an Uber instead of a bus, etc. Not all of these things every day, but just to do something "different" on certain days.

We are a segment of the market, and I for one am glad that Disney offers these types of events for people who see value in them.

@flynnibus you're trying to rationalize with people who would pay a premium for concierge restroom service at the MK. There is no amount of logic that can overcome the pixie dust that has been inhaled.

If you want to go and ride Splash Mountain enough times that you can count the hairs on Brer Bears Head, more power to you. I can assure you it gets quite dull after the 2nd round about. And the novelty of walking through an empty MK probably looses its charm very quickly.

There are people who did it and loved it. It didn't sell well at the original price, but that doesn't change the fact that the event had its fans. For some, spending $120 for 6 hours in the park, with 3 of those having no waits, could be a better deal than a regular park ticket.

I thought it was entry from 7pm? So if MK closes at 8pm that only gives four hours in the park?

Yep, quoting WDWMagic:

Like before, the event gives guests extra time in the park to enjoy attractions after regular park closing. There are 7 dates currently planned, January 20 and 27, February 2, 9 and 16, and March 2 and 9 2017.

Disney After Hours at the Magic Kingdom tickets get you into the park from 7pm, lasting for 3 hours after regular park close

The best bang for the buck is January 20 and 27 where the park closes at 9pm and you get 5 hours. The remaining dates from February 2 forward, the park closes at 8pm. Unless they plan to change park hours from February 2 forward, you're paying the same as January 20 and 27 but one less hour in the park.

I'll spoon feed it to you. How many times do you think an individual has done these events in this short time period? Then re-read my post.. and look at yours and understand why its completely offmark.

I feel like these events could backfire. They're making it easier for someone to stay offsite and still experience everything a park has to offer. Then families can pack it up, go back to their offsite resort and be done with Disney. Onsite guests are a captive audience - spending most of their dollars at Disney. Offsite guests that squeeze in a quick one night at MK for old time's sake are not.

How can you assure someone of what they enjoy? Some people love reading fiction, some non fiction, some don't read at all. Some like chocolate, some don't. Others can ride a roller coaster over, and over, and over.

We did 7DMT 6 consecutive times and my kid would have done 6 more. On lucky post rain days at our local theme park we have done the same coaster 6 times as well. 7 has been on our max on the same one. 2-4 is more the average on those days, but kiddo gets crazy sometimes ;)

It's a dangerous mindset to assume that all people think exactly as you do.

Your rantings do not make sense. The same reason why the same people go to the same amusement park 15+ times year after year-riding 99.9% of the exact same rides as they did the previous year- because they love it.

Can you just please leave your negativity out of one thread?

The only thing dangerous here, is the amount of pixie dust you've consumed in the past couple of months.

You do know that when they do events like this, they cut back on nighttime entertainment for the normal guest. (not to mention that it is 3 hours less for maintenance and cleaning of the park LOLOLOL) Why have a park open till 10 and do parades (if they ever get another one) and fireworks, when you can have plebs PAY an additional inflated price to ride 7DMT for 4 hours straight.

Let's see if you can answer direct questions without deflection and name calling. Here it goes-

How many dates are listed for this event?
How many times per week?
Are park hours advertised in plain site for all to see?
Do people have the option to do MK on a different day or evening besides on one of these nights?

Edit- FYI- I was at MK at 8am after a MVMCP night. The park was not any cleaner or dirtier than at 8am on another day that was a MVMCP night. You do know you could say the same about EMH too though, right? Do you wish for those to go away as well?

This is a limited run, which appears to be a second test run to gauge guest reaction. So your questions are irrelevant.

The last time they did it, it was a spectacular failure based on the actual ticket sales (not the ones they gave away for free after they couldn't sell anymore). Because having it during slow winter months (when attendance is light to begin with) it also less disruptive than the trial that happened earlier this year in the spring. While this will not eliminate EMH, if they can get the right price point down, you can rest assured that this will be expanded to more hard ticket events throughout the the Winter and Spring (maybe summer), leaving the standard guest to either go to another park (making the other parks extra crowded), or go on another night (making the MK extra crowded).

So just to be perfectly clear, you are ignoring my response to your charge of not having adequate time to clean the parks during a paid event, which you don't seem to have the concern about on free EMH nights which run until the same time. Got it.

Also just to be clear, my questions remain unanswered because they are irrelevant, bc in your words this entire event is a "test". So it would only make sense that this statement from you would be relevant?------

Doesn't seem to make much sense, but ok. I'm done with you. I prefer to have a convo with people who actually know why they are typing something, and can answer direct questions about what they have typed. Have a Magical Day :)

You do know that you have 1 EMH a week and 4 party nights, please don't tell me that you seriously believe that it doesn't affect an already fragile and tenuous maintenance and cleaning cycle.
